Worst job of turning a pretty skilled roster into a bunch of losers that I may have ever seen. Time to think about a shakeup in coaching here.
-
This is coaching, plain and simple. They have gotten worse, not better, as this season has unfolded so far. This team SUCKS right now.
-
6 Shots more than halfway through the game. If this were the NHL, the whole coaching staff would be fired.
-
SEVEN periods so far this season where they have 4 shots or less. PATHETIC puck movement. Damn lucky to be ahead in this game.
-
My take tonight. Stats looked good, but at times they were mailing it in. Without a full game effort, this is the result you get.
-
My take on yesterday's game is that the team is finally starting to play with the structure that Berry wants. Their puck support, tenacity, and jump were all better. Too bad they couldn't play that way last week, but as long as they keep up this kind of game, they will be good this season.
-
At least they have 2 years off before the next one. However, if this team can't pull their heads out of their #$&*#&$, the Ralph won't even be a "destination" anymore.
-
Honestly, I've never seen a team with as much talent on paper look so !@#!$.
-
Not attacking you man. And... not #6 anymore.
-
Not the #6 team in the country. No team that gets 5 shots per period deserves to even be mentioned in the ranks of teams that matter. Pathetic.
-
15 shots on goal? Are you F'n kidding me? What the HELL, Berry?
-
One more thought. If this coaching staff wants to claim "hard skill" as an identity, then the team has to play hard consistently. They looked like they thought their god-given graces were going to magically come from the ether tonight.
-
My take is that, after a supposed "wake up call" last night, the team took a nap tonight. Boring, sloppy hockey by UND. If they can't play any more determined than this, it is going to be an UGLY season.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
Oldguy replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Schloss says Blake & McLaughlin are "pass first" guys and could give Gaber a boost toward league MVP this year. I certainly look forward to watching that unfold. -
...And more Natty's than UND. Time to internalize that and get to the goal next year. Really getting tired of seeing others accomplish what UND should be doing.
-
That performance (with full knowledge that our top defensive pairing were out) did not look like a championship type team. Especially in the first two periods - they just looked flat, and I don't know how you justify that when all the press has been about how special many of the guys think this season is. With Kleven back in next week, and hopefully with a forward group that doesn't look like they are afraid of contact, maybe UND can go on a run. But, after tonight, I don't have a lot of optimism.
-
Portz is a surprise lately. Has really developed as the season has progressed. Not at the level of Schmaltz or Costantini, but coming on strong.
-
I thought so too, but in today's herald, it said "Berry indicated Budy will be available next week after skating this week."
-
When you look at the guys who are out, it's devastating. Trying to put lines together, I'm guessing you drop Costantini down to 3rd line center, and put Budy & Montgomery in on left wing, while maintaining the 4th line as-is. Going to be tough until they start getting some guys back, which is why losing the lead last night really hurts their chances.
-
I thought ND made some headsy plays to take advantage of rush opportunities last night, and Omaha probably deserved a few more goals. Boys need to be reduce turnovers and get more zone time going tonight or the results may be opposite. A win is a win, but 20 shots is not going to do it normally.
-
Precisely. When this team is dialed in and ready to go, they are very good. Otherwise....
-
Driscoll was surprisingly good. Man, has this team been waiting to see that again. After a pretty disappointing 1st period, we saw UND play a more consistent &. solid game for the final two. That is how they have to play. With Sanderson leaving for the Olympics, at least they have some momentum now.
-
I've heard Brad Berry & Jake B. say that the team was playing pretty much as well last weekend as last night. I have to disagree there. Yesterday, the quickness and accuracy of the passing was night & day vs. last week. Generally, they also took shots when a lane was open, and guys were going to the net harder. Their jump and timeliness forechecking was also much better - last week they were often too late to have an effective forecheck. Now, can this team put together two games in a row?
-
More "honors" for the team this weekend: First time in 47 games that they blew a lead after 2 periods First time since 2018 that they were swept at home Frankly, this team is amazingly average right now.
