Can you describe the uni's more? Is it just the new "ND" logo on the helmet, no state outline, right? I LOVE they went away from the exact Notre Dame lookalike logo...a change I had been advocating for years. However, the new look is still pretty similar...without the state outline

I thought so too, but someone asked me about the Oct 1st deadline, and if that meant after that date, absolutely no nickname or logo will be used. Game 1 is Oct 4th. Got me thinking.

Not trying to stir up a nickname debate, but what are people's predictions, will we have "Sioux" on our uniforms this season or not? I say yes, for one more season.

The best part about the wait for hockey season is that it's summer! Golf, fishing, bbq, etc will keep me plenty busy, but I can't wait!

Interesting...I think the move to DI really does bring the "other" sports into the limelight, which is another benefit of moving up.

I'm with you. I enjoy seeing the drum ceremonies and dancing at games when it occurs. I can honestly say I know more about the culture due to my U of ND connection. Do I fully understand the ceremonies? No, but they are very powerful to watch and I have actually gone online to research some of the traditions and how important dances were/are. If our name was Flickertails, I really don't think I would have thought to explore the Sioux culture.

Forgive me if this has been discussed. The precedent has been set, Florida State, Utah, and Illinois keep their names. Tribal support is there. Do they worry about the tribes rescinding their support down the road? Not to my knowledge. To me, these schools' former issues with the NCAA seem to be resolved. If the ND tribes vote and support the name, UND keeps it, we move on and don't worry about it anymore. This is the precedent.
