Agree with your assessment, jk. I know a team of defensive defensemen can be better than one loaded with offensive talent on the blue line (often at the expense of defense). The Sioux have won that way in the past, no reason they can't do it again. MN is the favorite, but the Sioux have shown the potential to play at the same level as MN did late last year. Although it would be nice to have one of their offensive dmen, I wouldn't trade any of the Sioux dmen to get one. The junior class must all show up this year.

Probably; he's very Bayda like in his forechecking and toughness down low and around the net. If he can pick up his scoring, which I think he will, he'll probably get an offer in a few years.
-
Nothing, other than the NHL teams have summer camps for draft picks that they hope are good enough to play for them in the future, although, a real good showing by any of them could get them an offer to sign. For those that have finished their college or junior careers, they now doubt hope to get a good offer.

Article that refers to Roche's future

speaking of wedding announcement pages, Mitch Vig was there also (least out west in ND). -

Since you're poi, we may as well be voi -
NJ just signed DeMarchi also, although I don't think he's equal to a healthy Hale. We'll see. I'd also like to see Panzer in an NHL game.

Sent an email to an address on the Olds site asking if there was any information on Rosehill, specifically, had he committed to any D1 program. The returned answer was "NO". I'd included jk's text written by whomever at Tampa Bay, and the Olds emailer took offense to the quote above, asking if the writer was a stats person or someone that knew nothing about hockey. Email address was "coach@...... , don't know if it was the coach, an assistant, or an office secretary that returned the email, at any rate, see the coach has as one of his goals to coach in the NCAA within 3 years.

Good to see; now lets keep the recruits around for four years.

With Murphy traded it would seem Roche is inline to become the Wild's offensive dman.

More laying on the lumber. Penalty Killers better be in training.

Interesting find JK. See in his bio at http://www.oldsgrizzlys.com/ that his goal is to play DI hockey, but no mention if he's been signed or has verballed to any college team. He, like Radke, is an 85 birthday so can play another year of juniors with Olds. His older brother was a 6' 3" 205 pound wing with Olds also. Several Olds graduates are around NCAA hockey, most with Bowling Green, one with Duluth (Brosz), and others, as well as recent commitments to UNO and UA-Fairbanks. I'm always surprised looking at these junior A rosters that almost all have goals of a DI scholarship.

Soon all 25 year old Canadians will again be Sioux. Although Radke will be only 19, doubt that will stop Ha**y and members from getting that going again. Cupcakes can't last forever.
-
Would guess that Spehar spent most of his time somewhere near Karl in HS also. He certainly didn't see much of his own end of the ice in college, except from a distance (100-200 feet).
-
Looks like Berry's territory, in Alberta anyway. Hope he's got a good line on others. Anyone have any idea if there are any scholarships left for this season? Obviously Radke could have had one if he'd come this fall.

I don't think just one is enough Holsteins's in ND. And wouldn't the Fornier statue replace the Golden Arches on Washington rather than Gateway.
-
Remind me to avoid gateway at night if this happens.

Looking over last year's Sioux roster, Zach must have looked small on the ice skating warmups. They were/are huge. Compares favorably to an NHL roster (size-wise). Murray should look like a real shrimp out there this year (although the salmon arm site now lists him at 5-11, 172). Slap, you must be getting caught up with the pre-draft release that was posted, where JP Parise was slated to be taken in the first round. JP, Jordan, or Zach, which one you talkin' 'bout.
-
Nice to see a little academic ambition in his bio; "major in business while playing NCAA hockey."
-
Yes it would; the numbers I posted came from a broadcaster on the draft show, I think.
-
Comparison to Gomez, but size comparison to Gionta. Interesting in that Parise actually compares in size closely to Brylin, Madden, and Gomez, while Gionta is a shrimp (5-7). At any rate, hope NJ isn't thinking he compares to Gomez at a similar age, as he didn't even make it to his first year of college. Also interesting that the Wild' first pick (#20), Burns, was moved from defense last year, to right wing this year, and grew from 5-9 to 6-4 in that year. CSB moved him from #101 midseason to #39 at draft time (7 inches=42 spots). Wonder if hockey players get spam on ways to get bigger?
-
Parise looks "bulked" up. Hard to believe 5' 11" and 185+ is "small". Murray also has the front page on the sasilverbacks site, as the only junior A forward invited to the Canadian junior development camp. All others from major juniors (one from NCAA). http://www.sasilverbacks.com/

Murray goes to the Kings in the 5th round (#152). Also, Parise in the "Bloodlines" article: http://www.nhl.com/futures/2003draft/wigge...ines062103.html
