  1. Which is one of the reasons we struggle against good teams. Two shifts and then motion to throw a pass to a receiver that is 2 yards down field...
  2. NO. I am saying we better stop the run...
  3. 100%. Stop the run or we will need to score 35 to win.
  4. Lots of good points as usual. My over arching point on Tommy and this offense is Tommy's lack of running when combined with a serious lack of downfield throwing attempts, makes our offense much easier to defend than an offense where the QB is a threat to run and make throws down the field. We can argue about the causes of this predicament, but without those two cards to play, Danny has to rely on scheme and just over powering the opponent. The better opponents are not going to be over powered, so then we are left with scheme to score points.
  5. All very good points. Tommy is very conservative with the ball, which obviously has positive points, but once in awhile we need to take a shot. I also agree on Kett. He actually cost us a few games with boneheaded plays, in Tommy's defense, his deficiency is not making big plays for us, not making dumb plays to lose the game for us.
  6. Tommy is not averaging over 5 yards per attempt in the big games. He also does not like to run . With “adequate” QB play the rest of the team needs to be better than the opponent. Far easier to defend a team where the QB doesn’t throw deep and won’t run. We need Tommy to be at 8+ yards per attempt on Saturday and have half a dozen runs for 30 yards.
  7. The “impossible” comment triggered me. Your comments are likely correct. It scares me that Tommy is still our best choice. We need more than a “game manager” to beat SU on Saturday.
  8. How about option D? Jerry is better than Tommy, but the coaches are afraid to pull the trigger? Again I don’t know the facts on the situation. I find it hard to believe we have all these QBs and nobody gives us a better chance to beat a good team than a qb who doesn’t like to run and who will get us about 4.5 yards per attempt.
  9. So you KNOW he is not better upside than Tommy? Was that your bike ride INTEL? Any bets on Tommy’s stat line vs NDSU Saturday? Will Tommy avg more then 5 yards per attempt?
  10. I agree, we did beat him and the Jacks. It was our last win against a really good team…
  11. You said to even talk about it is idiotic. I simply pointed out it has happened. If not for the injury the Jacks would have won a natty. We are just trying to beat a good FCS team once in awhile. Maybe Kaminski is not that good, I don’t know. If he is good and is not playing because he is a true Frosh, he will likely be somewhere else next season.
  12. It’s impossible for a freshman to start at QB… How did it work out for the Jacks? https://gojacks.com/sports/football/roster/mark-gronowski/12203
  13. Good analysis. Much needed blowout win vs a bad team.
  14. I'll be there to witness it! My hopes have been dashed so many times recently...
  15. We will all feel much better about this team we love after we beat Western Illinois by 15-20 points. The real question for everyone on this forum is 5-7 wins a year good enough for UND football? Quite honestly, if Bubba's teams would win 8-9 games a season and we were a Top 10 FCS team year in and year out, I would be fine. I'm not ok with 5-7 wins each year at the University of North Dakota.
  16. Even if they’re the best FCS team, we had zero answers for them on O or D. Many of you have played and/or coached. Was this game over before it began? (Art of War). I’ve had that feeling about this team the last season and a half. Actually since the Bison debacle at the Alerus.
  17. Burning the tape is the way to never get better.
  18. "Burn the tape" is BS. We had a bye week to get ready for SDSU and couldn't stop them and couldn't move the ball. That is just sh*t!y coaching...This team is not as good as as some of Bubba's past teams, especially on defense. So much of football still comes down to coaching...game planning, motivation, belief, energy, play calling, in game adjustments...its football.
  19. After the Yotes beat the Bison, the game @USD moves to a "L" from a "toss up". Remainder of the schedule gives us 2 more wins(W Ill and Ind St), 3 losses( NDSU, @UNI, @USD) and 2 "toss-ups"(@Murray St and Ill St). We will finish with 4-6 wins and 5-7 losses. Vintage Bubba ball.
  20. Based on the last 2 games, and more importantly, Bubba's body of work over the last 2+ seasons, winning 6 of the next 7 games is little more than a pipe dream. Anything is still possible but when a team can't throw the ball downfield, cant run the ball consistently and cant stop the run it does not usually end well. I'm afraid our big game coaching acumen was on display in the first quarter as we could not move the ball and could not stop our opponent after a bye week. UGh.
  21. Let’s not forget we defeated SDSU in Spring of 2021 and we were driving for the go ahead score late in the 4th in the fall of 2021. IMO we have faltered since.
  22. Tommy is a smart QB with a weak arm, who doesn't like to run. It's too bad, because he has shown he can run, just does not like to run.
