I wouldn't read too much into this, but I did notice on CH's list Voltin is not listed on the North Dakota page, but is listed as a Siox commit on the USHL page. Not sure what to think, he went from team USA to USHL to Minot and really isn't doing much there. Personally has to be very disappointing for the young man, but I seriously doubt he comes to UND. But I have been wrong many times.

You hit refresh waiting for the PWR to update after the Sioux game is complete. You do the same thing after some seemingly random east coast game is complete.

Surprising fact: 100% of UNDs national championships started by making the frozen four... I believe that the stat is similar for other programs. We have a chance and that is all we can ask for. I think this team is at or near its potential. I have to confess that I am still bothered by seeing a couple of people stop skating in the Miami game, but I have not seen it since. What can you say, 12 strait tournaments, pretty outstanding. As it turns our Goldie can run but can't hide from the Fighting Sioux.

It is not that I think Ferris is a bad team or that they can not beat the Sioux on any given night, but if both teams play to their potential the Sioux win 8 of 10... I don't believe for 1 second that Ferris in is the NCAA tournament if they don't play an incredibly weak schedule in the WCHA. In last year's WCHA they would have been an also ran just like Mankato was. The one thing that they have going for them is a solid goaltender. We have seen the Sioux drop about 5 games to hot goaltenders this year. The fact that the Sioux can play a power puck control game is a very good match up give their very small D-men. The Sioux should be able to hustle and cycle pretty well. While their D is mobile, they are no where near the talent of our D. My biggest fear against them would be breakout passes catching sleeping D (i.e. Mattson / Schmaltz). If the Sioux can control play for the first 5 minutes and avoid grabbing penalties, I think they walk away with this. Also look for the Sioux to wear down Ferris with a physical game that is not like any team they played this year.

Home: 16-1-1 / Away: 10-7-2 / Neutral: 3-2-0 Ferris state is mediocre when not at home. Also they played a cupcake schedule. 45th according to KRACH. They only played 2 NCAA playoff teams and went 0-3 vs. Mankato and 1-2 vs. Colgate

During the Friday game there was clearly something very wrong with Schmaltz, he made a lazy icing that led to the 2nd and ultimately deflating goal. Further there were a number of pucks that he did not skate to very hard Friday and Saturday. On Friday he was one of a handful of players the looked like they gave up. Saturday he looked severely hobbled. Again not skating for the puck. Even his shot was off (yes I know he scored a goal). He also passed up a number of opportunities to drive the net or slap a 1 timer. I realize he is maybe the most talented player on the team, but we have 8 legit defensemen and I wonder if his presence will be a liability against Wisconsin who probably will have the best forwards we have played this year.

May we assume he couldn't find a ticket for the WCHA tournament?

UND did scout him and he had a terrible game with a coach there. I think UNO offered before UND got a second look.
