One thing to remember is that this is the first season as a member of the Sioux that Miller will be healthy for the summer to prepare.
-
With the "recruits" that Edina picked up this year, that team is going to be awesome...
-
The way that Duncan, Oshie, Finley, and Chorney have handled themselves and the fact that they wanted one more chance together shows the importance of recruiting first class people not just players.
-
David Toews IS that good...

Latest update. 2008: Forwards: Done, counting Oshie and Duncan we have 18 forwards, this was likely done on purpose to decrease the size of the 2009 class. The huge class every 4 years is a nasty cycle. Defense (I think we will need at least 1 more defender, maybe 2): Corbin McPherson - Cowichan Valley - Big Player, 88 birthdate, 3rd round pick. Brett Kostolansky - Shattuck-St. Mary's - Top defender, but I'm not sure we will have room. Other??? 2009: (Because of a large roster in 2008 this class may be more normal size) Forwards: Ben Hanowski - Little Falls - Gopher fan with a Sioux coach, if he gives us a chance I think he will see that UND fits his style and development needs better. Zack Budish - Edina - lets hope Finley and Gleason are doing some talking Sam Alfieri - Shattuck St.Mary's - yet another great Shattuck Forward Derek Lee - Salmon Arm BCHL - Would he wait until 2009, if he looks at how patience worked for Duncan, he might Cam Lamoreux - Drumheller AJHL - Family Ties Tyler Landman - Roseau - Smaller dynamic forward. Danny Mattson - Holy Angles Defense: Cory Fienhage - Eastview - Big Defender Matt Bruneteau - Yup, that family Ben Hughes - Shattuck-St. Mary's - I know nothing Ben Montgomery - Shattuck-St. Mary's - I know nothing 2010: Forwards: Greg Lamoreux - Elite Canadian Player Brett Hebel - Warroad - I'll let the locals comment Nate Schmidt - St. Cloud Cathedral - Likely to Minnesota Emerson Etem - Shattuck St. Mary's - top line 92 Guan Wang - Shattuck St. Mary's - top line 92 Defense: Nick Mattson - Chaska Nick Bruneteau - Yup, that family Dominic Racobaldo - Shattuck St. Mary's - top defender 92 Siouxnami's wish list (because hey, my birthday is coming) 1) David Toews 08 (Thanks Hak ) 2) Greg Lamoreux 09-10 3) Nick Mattson 09-10 4) Ben Hanowski 09 5) Derek Lee 09

Bruneteau as well, this is a powerhouse class... Hextall is a different kind of player.
-
Cichy is big time, he'll be here AND in the lineup.
-
As previously posted: D1: Taylor Chorney - Robbie Bina D2: Joe Finley - Derrick LaPoint D3: Zach Jones - Chay Genoway F1: Chris VandeVelde - TJ Oshie - Ryan Duncan F2: Evan Trupp - Andrew Kozek - Michael Forney (Frattin takes Forney's place if he is STILL hurt) F3: Rylan Kaip - Kyle Radke - Brad Malone F4: Darcy Zajac - Brad Miller - Matt Watkins (center, forward, forward) Ready in reserve: Jake Marto Matt Frattin Ryan Martens Brent Davidson

If I am not mistaken though, there is light rail that connects other hotels to DT.

The Toews thing helps.

Here is an update to this, right now I count the potential for 17 forwards, not counting Oshie, but holding out hope for Duncan. That is a very difficult lineup to crack... We are also set at goalie, but will need at least 1 more defender, maybe more. Players that will still have eligibility but are likely to be gone: T.J. Oshie, Taylor Chorney, Joe Finley Returning Players Forwards (12) Ryan Duncan, Andrew Kozek, Ryan Martens, Brad Miller, Matt Watkins, Chris VandeVelde, Darcy Zajac, Michael Forney, Brad Malone, Evan Trupp, Matt Frattin, Brent Davidson Defense (4) Zach Jones, Chay Genoway, Derrick LaPoint, Jake Marto, Goaltenders (2) Aaron Walski, Anthony Grieco I also put 5 forward in italics since they could also be a flight risk. Elite Freshman Class (likely to be tops in the nation) Forwards (5) Brett Bruneteau, Mike Cichy, Jason Gregoire, David Toews, Brett Hextall Defense (2) Ben Blood, Joe Gleason Goaltender (1) Brad Eidness I still would expect to see some defensive recruits soon.

You want shotguns on golf courses?

Aerial hazards of the waterfowl kind.

Agreed, they skate well on the big ice, that is their advantage. Just as we hit well on the NHL ice. come the end of the season, Minnesota will be there.
-
Brady Murray will have to be huge this season...
-
He left the Sioux.
-
Fairchild coming in might quickly make his way to #1 on the PP.
-
Fischer is the one that I get a kick out of. Granted he might improve, but he was an absolute pylon last year vs. the Sioux. He basically gave Oshie a goal by letting Toews skate right past him, and gave no effort. The Gophs have alot of raw talent on the blue line, but unless the improve considerably, this could be a tough year for Frazee. That said, they will score alot of points as well.
-
I also think that LaPoint will be a very good player and Marto will be a solid 4 year player, but I would not be surprised to see Radke start out as the 6th defensman until Hak is more comfortable with LaPoint. Having another big forward should help make that a possibility.

When Zach Jones walks up to a vending machine, it just gives him a soda and some money, then starts to tremble...
