I assume that this would be: LaPoint Trupp Zajac But, we have seen surprises in the past (Kozek, Watkins). Should be interesting...

I know that I will probably get flamed for saying this, but I absolutely loved the way that Irmen played. I loved the passion, speed, and skill (and even the Jersey pop). I loved it a bit more when he wasn't playing the Sioux. I however don't see him having success in the NHL, because everyone is bigger and faster, I hope I am wrong, but I wish him the best of luck.

Did anyone ask Smaby / Stafford what classes ther registered / were registering for next year? You know, catch them off gaurd...

Any thoughts on whether Hak will be a future NHL coach, or the type of coach that wants to stay with the program for a career? You have to look at his age and situation and realize that he has the potential to break alot of caoching records. Next year may be a new test, because for the first time (assume not an overwhelming loss of players) he may be expected to reach the forzen four as opposed to just over acheiving lower expectations.

Here are my optimistic predictions. Does anyone else think that Smaby might actually get more $$$ if he actually waited until after his senior year to sign as a free agent. He has really moved from a 2nd round draft pick to an elite D-men and TB isn't known for big contracts (it's also not a great hockey town). Stafford is still growing as a player, so I hope he is back. The injury will not help him get top $$$. Zajac will play with Darcy (and if that works we need to bring in Kelsey in 07). Parise stays. Sparky stays to keep RwtDs happy. Toews and Oshie stay for 1 more year (at least). 2006-2007, becomes a very fun season for the Fighting Sioux. At least I like to convince myself of this.

I have alot of faith in Phil and Jordan, so whatever happens, we should be OK in net. Jordan didn't have a good frozen four game, so what, the Sioux wouldn't even have gotten a sniff of the Frozen Four the last 2 season with out him. I am happy about his statement that he will be back next season (posturing or not)...

The only number that matters from my prospective is 160 pounds. I hope that he found the Gopher Juice and will show up at 175, and be 185 by 2007. The WCHA is not kind to 160 pound freshman D-men.

What about UMD? I would expect that UMD will be playing at the final 5. Their freshman weren't at UND's level, but were very talented and as a group they will grow. Plus, their coach seems to be able recruit. I just hope they get their new stadium. Does anyone else wish that UMD was our rival and not SCCC. The 1 year of 4 where we don't have a Duluth road trip sucks. (And any trip to SCCC sucks, especially if you are a minority...).

Great post. Yet another Fighting Sioux team that exceeded all reasonable expectations. 1 more great year to add to the greatest hockey legacy anywhere. Congrats seniors on 4 good years.

Parise is a great goaltender, but had a poor game, you can't let in soft goals and he did at least 2. Yes the defense hung him out to dry, but he usually makes many of those saves. We wouldn't have been here without Parise. Sometimes good players have bad games. There were alot of bounces that just didn't go there way. Oshie played as hard as ever, but couldn't get a break, and got knocked in his a$$ a few times. Porter was horrible, and took a stupid crucial penalty. Even Sparky had some turnovers. But that happens sometimes and it wasn't our day. The effort was good, this wasn't a Minnesota vs. Holy Cross. They just got beat. On a positive note I though Radke was great, I didn't realize how fast he was.

Lee might still end up with the freshman scoring record at UND. Lee has played well since the SCSU sweep.

I really think the Sioux will come out and dominate like they did against Michigan. Historically, this has been a very bad sign...
