The entire body 39 MPH is unlikely, however if you just got the legs with the gun, which have to move in a somewhat different direction, it might be possible. Either way, the kid was not moving at that speed.

I can see recovering from 5 (or 6). I doubt this will happen by the start of the season, but by the end we'll be flying as usual.

Just to be clear, there is a big difference between riding a stationary bike and a VO2 max test. That test is absolute murder, and vomiting is not that unusual. The vomiting afterward is not nearly as important as the score. If I'm not mistaken (and I often am) Lance Armstrong recently set the world record in this test.

Here are a couple of recruiting updates that are perhaps of interest to Sioux fans. If you don't care, you don't need to tell me about it... Kyle Hardwick? Remeber him? Played at Warroad, with TJ oshie. He finally committed and it was to Bemidji for 2007. After being considered a serious recruit after his Junior Year, he really fell off the map. Still though, this will be a good pickup for the Beavers. Patrick White, who will be a senior at Grand Rapids this year committed to Minnesota for 2007 following in former teammate Alex Goligoski's footsteps. This kid look great and as it stands right now will go to Minnesota right out of High School. If anyone saw him play in the state tournement last year, I think you will agree that he almost single handedly pulled Grand Rapids to the finals. Being he was a Ranger (and a great player), I was curious if the Sioux might be interested. Jon Casey was the last GR kid I can remember in GF. Missing any? For a school that doesn't produce a ton of D1 college players, there have been some incredible ones to come from Rapids over the years. If that program could ever get good consistent coaching, they would become a state power again. The school seems to be recovering from the "LaRoque" era, nicely...

I predict.... This year's Sioux team will win more games than last years. What many people are forgetting is how much players typically improve from Freshman to Sophs. Particularly those that languish on 3rd and 4th lines because there is sooooooo much talent in front of them. The Sioux WILL have 4 lines that match up or exceed just about ever team in the nation, including UMTC, the national champs, Eastern, and Western Powers.

Or we will need 10 every year to keep the roster full...

Shattuck seems to hold academics as very important. Any school that would expell 2 of there best players for cheating has my respect. No disrespect aimed at the future NHLers, but rather I think this says that the school is NOT a hockey factory.

To me the Kessel thing is a pure ?. I think he is hands down the most raw talented player, BUT what a gamble. The EJ commentary surprises me a little. Like some scouts have said, "Toews is a safe pick." This is not me trying to be a homer BUT... 1) Toews - Why, because I am a homer. Actually, because St. Louis undoubtedly has alot of respect for how UND develops players for good reason. AND, because they need offense more than defense. AND, because Toews made more progress in the last 6 months than anyone else. 2) EJ - The Pens have a ton of offesnive talent. EJ fits in where they need help. Plays at UMTC next year. 3) Stahl - Kessel would be the better pick, but Stahl has the successful brother factor. If there is any way to screw up this pick Chicago will find it. They can't make a good pick 2 years in a row, can they? 4) Kessel - A steal at this spot. If he reaches his potential, he is the best player in the draft hands down. 5) Frolic (sp) - I'm loving that European vibe.
