2021 Game Day - NDSU vs UND at Alerus Center
AJS replied to BarnWinterSportsEngelstad's topic in Football
Joining the MVFC completely, I don't think playing NDSU in 2015 and 2019 was smart at all. Considering the outcomes, it's tough to spin how that helped the program over not playing at all. I'm thinking more recruiting, regional prominence (not the word I'm looking for) angle. -
15/13 in the Polls. As of now, they are still in ok position. Need to win this one. I'm excited, I don't really know what to expect. How are injuries on the defensive side of the ball? Can they carry over that performance against NDSU? This defense is capable of keeping them in the rest of the games almost single-handily. Offense is a work in progress. What gives me hope is I don't think they are playing very close to their ceiling right now.

Re-listened to the Jack Michaels Show interview with Kolpack and Tom Miller. It was sort of almost depressing listening to Miller if you are like me and think UND has a shot in this game. The two big things that stuck out of it from Miller was talking about the anticipation in GF. There's anticipation, but he thinks there would be more if the general thought was that the Bison were there for the taking. Second, was talking rivalry and saying that he doesn't think UND is there yet to challenge. Just one persons opinion, maybe I took it wrong, but did not get the feeling that he thought this one could go UND's way.

2021-22 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
AJS replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
2pm Kickoff 6:07 Puck drop Pretty solid scheduling from my point of view. About an Hour in-between games. -
Answerable question that I don't know. When did Morrison get injured in the Fall game against NDSU? Am I just completely off base here. This Fall version of UND's D-Line (anchored in the middle by a healthy Morrison / Beach) is night and day better than the one that was down to just Lickfeldt for a portion of the game, right? I've never heard this brought up once by the media. Maybe it's not as important as I think. The sentiment that I feel I'm hearing this week is this Fall is a better version of NDSU (which I agree) and maybe potentially slight worse version of UND (see Interior O-Line). That's kind of everywhere but here. It's just excuses (i.e. see NG position that game), but watching those two teams play every game that Spring, I'm 100% convinced they weren't as far apart as the score indicated. I guess we'll see Saturday. I really don't know what to expect.

Brindley to Michigan. This is absurd. Nothing but 5 star guys.
-
Unless you have a sponsor to print T-shirts and place them on ever seat, don't even try. It'll end up looking really dumb otherwise.
-
Two realistic, specific keys. First Drives. UND: Get a first down or two. Settle in, points are not necessary. Don't go 3 and out. NDSU: Don't let them score a TD. NDSU / JMU games last Spring, not that. Limit NDSU to one or less big plays (50+ yards). Weird one being ok with conceding one. Keep it to only one and that'll be big.

I wonder if Berry even tries to recruit Minnesota anymore or since he’ll never beat Motzko / Sandelin in any battles he just put a big X through that state.
-
Along the same lines as my thought process with Canady. Each week should be better than the previous week. Same goes with the O-Line. Only 1 player (Waletzko) had started at that position for UND at the beginning of the season. They probably won't be there yet, Week 4, but they should be much improved over Week 1/2.
-
I'm kind of shocked how few tickets are on the re-sale market, at least through the verified Ticketmaster process.
-
I'll say at worst 75/25, but more likely in the 80/20 to 85/15. What % would season ticket holders / students account for? I got tickets right away with the CC and there weren't that many tickets available. My guess will be 85/15.

Starting to back track on this. I still can't picture UND winning, but I do think it'll be competitive. For me there are two big factors. Alerus Center. Legitimate home field advantage. Would it be accurate to call it a 10 to 14 point swing from if this game was at the Fargo Dome? Both places give the home team a TD advantage. UND's Defense. I think they're good. Yes, the same defense that gave up 48 to USU (side note, Air Force gave up 49 the week after, at home. AF only gave up 3 points to Navy the week prior). The NG position will be much stronger than in the Spring when the two teams play. Outside of Haas, I believe they are healthy. Will be interested to know how close to 100% Canady will be by game time. Two games under his belt and a week off. Even though I can't picture it, on paper I think they should have an Ok shot at knocking them off. Let's put it at a 25 to 30% chance.
-
This is accurate. 360 thought they have probably 5 spots left in the class, which is 1/3 of the total. The offers out right now are to very good prospects, have to get the ball rolling here soon though.
-
They haven't. It's two completely conflicting scenarios. NDSU to me would be the only team (FCS) that UND could be playing at home, where my confidence level is where it's at. Like I mentioned, it has nothing to do with talent levels. On paper it should be a good game. Until they show up, just once, I can already picture how it's going to start out and play out. Nobody wants to be more wrong than me.
-
Embarrassing discussion honestly.
-
Until proven otherwise, I have to go with NDSU in a blowout. I think this years UND team is really good, that with playing at home it should be competitive, but this is the type of game where UND has fallen flat on their face over and over. Hope I’m proven wrong.
-
It would be crazy to me if they didn’t try to get all of their top targets on campus that weekend.
-
It wasn’t listed. Just speculation, but you would think that weekend would be for a more select group. Special invite. Current commits and your “A” level prospects. What we’ve seen on Twitter I’m sure the Coaching Staff sent to hundreds of prospective recruits (both from this year as well as future years).
-
I took it as they read their pre-season press clippings (as a Top 10 team) and aren’t as focused as they should be. Issues they are having are almost all not being 100% locked in.
-
He played against Drake, which I took that as he’s either 100% or as close as you can get.
-
I wouldn’t look too much on the playing time against Drake. The leading tackler was Petigo (who did look good!). I don’t know KK’s injury is, but I’m saying it is a possibility that if they were playing anyone else he could have played. 100% Canady is working himself back and Fort is still learning the position. What’s exciting is they should both improve every week.
-
Loved reading it. Concerning issues that SHOULD be easy to correct. 360’s / Miller’s comments which were harsh I think could be a really good thing. Media is not pumping their tires.
