  1. One of my keys to the rest of the year was Scheel to play to his average (.905 SV%), when he does that, UND has only lost twice coming into this weekend. Well, he managed that, playing above both nights, but it didn't matter. The true positive coming out of this year is this team next year will have an excellent defensive core and great goaltending. Even more important, it'll be impossible to be as offensively inept as this year. Impossible. We are witnessing history this year with their lack of goal scoring.
  2. First time I've ever just wanted the season to be over. It can't come soon enough. You give up 3 goals the entire weekend and only manage a single point. It's so unbelievable.
  3. On the disallowed goal can someone explain the following to me, if Johnson was pushed into the goalie by the Denver player (which he was), should that by rule still be interference?
  4. Starting with St. Cloud, I wondered what would happen first with this stretch of highly ranked teams, they win a Friday night game and give everyone true hope for a sweep they desperately need, or get swept. It's time to continue to bend but not break.
  5. UND is a program that by the time a class is Seniors, they are a shell of what they were, losing multiple players to pro contracts. I've been a broken record, but the Junior class was a recruiting misstep by the coaching staff. Hoff hasn't panned out with his expectations, but besides him, everyone was a bottom line "energy" type of player. This years Senior class (Forwards) although small, is a solid group, but when you combine them with the Junior class, your upperclassman don't have the top end talent. The Junior class is so key to a program like UND, that's where you see a lot of guys prove themselves before signing a contract (with the exceptions being the 1st round talents who have already signed). The Sophomore class is small in size, but does have talent. Freshman class has probably exceeded expectations, but I also questioned the overall talent coming into the year. My hope is and it appears that way looking at next years class, that Berry has learned from some of his recruiting mistakes. Side note: Strictly talking forwards, since the dman / goaltending is solid.
  6. Really good article, "the cover up is worse than the crime" type deal. I can't believe how poorly this was handled, it's unfortunate for Robbins, but it could have been a none story for NDSU.
  7. You guys ever hear of Jonny Brodzinksi? That's true that it doesn't always translate, but I'll still take a guy who has produced at the Junior level over someone who hasn't. Age is also a really important thing to evaluate when looking at Junior numbers too.
  8. Anyone watched East Grand and Trey Ausmus this year? Pretty impressive stat line as a Freshman Dman. 7 goals 11 assists in 20 games. Tied for 4th on the team in scoring and leads the d-core by a wide margin.
  9. This game is a microcosm of the season and maybe apathy has started to set in with me, but as frustrating as this game was and this season has been, as funny as it sounds, I'm starting to have a more positive outlook on this team. They play hard every night, which is important to me. I understand how sick everyone is about hearing about shots on goal, but one thing it does show is more times than not they are carrying the play. Hockey isn't a fair game and this hasn't been a fair season. I don't really know what else to say. They have quality chances, just most the time they can't capitalize. I've been watching hockey for a long time and what's gone this season is really like something I've never seen before.
  10. Who really fits that bill on this team though? Bernard-Docker / Tychonick / Mishmash are really the only three. It's still obviously early in his career, but a guy like Weatherby although drafted and did have a monster year, did it as an overager. I'm always more cautious with guys like that. As we've seen, you don't have to be drafted to be an impact player (Poolman, Kierstad, Bast), but I have a good feeling about next years class. There's going to be four forward that will be drafted higher than anyone other forward except for Mismash. Those four are true high end players.
  11. I'm getting ahead of myself looking at next year, but he's the perfect example of why I'm so excited about next years class. You have a bunch of guys that are highly skilled, high caliber true freshman coming in. Tychonick took awhile to situated into the college game, but once those type of guys do, watch out.
  12. How impressive was Tychonick tonight? He's going to be a force in the upcoming years.
  13. The problem I have is this isn't necessarily a bad game they have played.
  14. I have to say, I'm kind of surprised UND's power play is at 16%. Yes, that's 43rd in the country, put I would think that % would have been worse. The only time I'm sure they won't score is when they are on the PP.
  15. That is North Dakota hockey
  16. Disclaimer that clearly you never know, but each class always has those guys that the consensus feels are home run recruits (i.e. Bennett, Larson, Ott to name a few recent). Most don't fall under the sure fire recruit umbrella. There's wide variations after the sure fire category. This 2019 Freshman class seems to have the most home run type recruits UND has had and I'm not sure it's even close. This is so crucial, because this class will start with a much, much stronger base than any previous class.
  17. "When looking at this defensive line class, DC Eric Schmidt has to be beaming. The Hawks already signed five players in the early period and the addition of Pierre makes it even better. This is the best defensive line class UND has ever signed and it might not even be close." "Nelson had a bunch of other offers and had many opportunities to play a various schools in the Big Sky or Mountain West. The combination of Nelson, Samuel Fort, Haley Bucholz, and Jayson Coley at cornerback is more than likely the best CB class UND has ever signed." This is a big deal. I'm trying to stay level headed, but I do really respect their opinions on UNDFootball360, they seem to be very level headed. I know you don't know until they get here type deal, but potentially having two positional groups being the best in UND history in the same class is so exciting.
  18. I would add RB to that list as well (if you include London in this class).
  19. Talk about a great couple of hours! It really is amazing how this coaching staff finished before the first signing day, getting guys that would fall into my very novice rankings of "Top 5" type guys in the class, now two more who would be in that group with Chandon / Caleb before the Feb 6th signing day. This has turned into a really impressive class. Looking at every class, are Fort / Nelson the Top CB duo this school has ever recruited?
  20. As far as Graetz and his liking of tweets, are people looking too much into it? Based on the substance of the Tweets he liked and the sheer number of them, no, they aren't. He might have set a record for most likes in a day, it's that bad. There's no chance he doesn't pick NDSU. Onto option #3.
  21. Looking closely at the numbers, sitting 20th with a PWR of .5311, if they were to drop .01 to .5211 they would be 21st, if they gain .01 to .5411 UND would be 16th. After this weekend they have a better opportunity to move up than down. Only taking into account UND's games next weekend, but a split would raise them to .5375. The formula still hasn't changed for this team, as it goes with a possible at large bid, they can't get swept by any of their next 3 opponents. Splits would still be ok, that would still raise their PWR ranking every week. One sweep would give them a punchers chance going into their last 4 against CC and Omaha.
  22. When interviewing, TH asks a question, starts answering his question and finishes his question with “right”? Really no need for Berry to even be there.
  23. Always find it strange when Schlossman isn't able to interview a recent recruit. Definitely not on Schlossman, since you know he tried to reach out, but disappointed we don't have the story. Always like reading the quotes / hear which other schools were interested.
  24. I took that comment as won't make it to campus, because of that players development (i.e. Costello).
  25. Per UND360: As we reported on January 16th, UND QB recruit Logan Graetz is scheduled to visit campus this weekend. Bubba Schweigert and Danny Freund have been hard after the River Falls, WI native for the last month or so. We now believe within the last week, NDSU has circled back again on Graetz, who initially committed to the Bison as a preferred walk-on. We’re hearing NDSU will be home visiting Graetz later this week and making a scholarship offer. This is turning into a battle for Graetz.
