    NCHC Playoffs

What are we cheering for in the Omaha / CC series? Anything, but CC in 3? Top priority being UND being in the Sioux Falls regional. That can only not happen (being realistic) if Omaha finishes 13th or 14th (w/ an outside change of the 14th being picked off by an auto-bid). Might sound odd, but after last weekend, my ideal situation would be UND as the #1 seed and Omaha as the #3 seed in Sioux Falls.
  2. Necessity in the current landscape of college athletics. Once implemented, UND will now have everything needed. It still won't be practical to try to match what larger schools can do but saw a quote recently that really changed my perspective on it. Paraphrasing, but it was talking about how most athletes want to stay loyal but when others are offering collective $, if the school they are at doesn't, it's tough. We saw it firsthand with NDSU and what took place this offseason in Football.
  3. With the 2024 Spring Roster out. Removals (from 2023) - 23 total DB (5): Siegel, Ocansey, Kauppinen, Buckner, Fort DL (5): Ogbu, McNaboe, Johnson, Saltonstall, Griffin Jr. ST (1): Stevens LB (2): Koshiol, Mullin OL (5): Bryant, Lavell, Carroll, Ventrelli, Kilty QB (1): Schuster RB (1): Skokna WR (3): Wright, Wilson, Eliodor Additions DB (3): Scott, Martens, Martin LB (2): Butsch, Gerhardt QB (1): Hentges TE (3): Behymer, Gehin, Schusted DL (1): College *Gehin, Schusted, College are Freshman Only surprise to me is Carroll.
  4. UND always going to UND. Completely tragic athletic department.
  5. April 15
  6. Does this not feel different to anyone else? I think there's a legit shot if the MAC expands to 16 like some have suggested that NDSU gets the call. My big question surrounds SDSU. Always has. Losing both XDSU's would be crushing to UND.
  7. Does it look worse in person? I like it.
  8. Still the #1 ranked team in culture. Culture > Pairwise.
  9. When I talk switching lines, it’s code for, move Schmaltz to 4C. I’m a broken record with it, because I’m convinced he handicaps the 3rd line (Perron in particular). Since it wont happen, really relying on 13 being a full go. I’m going to go against my normal instinct and hope 32 is back in net. Big one to tonight! Need to win.
  10. This team needs 13 / 28 back and healthy. Great team guys, but 5 imo is the clear cut 14th guy. 11 is the clear cut 13th guy. With the 3rd line constructed as is, when 5 & 11 are both playing, it turns this team into a two-line team. Need the 4th line back to 29/21/13
  11. Hot take. They were going to lose at some point, might as well get embarrassed. Cause a complete reset of their mentality. I would also like to see some different line combos. What we’ll see though is 13 & 5 switch. No other changes. It is what it is at this point, but it’s so crazy that not only is 8 not 4C, but that you put him with 18. How is 18 supposed to flourish playing w/ someone that has no offensive ability.
  12. Interested to see if anyone will actually be held accountable. Guessing no changes tomorrow, but we’ll see.
  13. Be lazier 29
  14. 13 gives that 4th line such a boost. 13-11-21 is a great 4th line.
  15. Like 44% this year. Not that.
  16. Someone explain to me what the coaches see in Schmaltz.
  17. Shouldn't this be for almost any program a minor issue? Look at UND's athletic budget. For 250K more per year, you could be at the top of the league for salaries. Call it 500K and all of a suddenly you're at the top for all sports. I do think Chaves has done a lot of really good things. Facilities are top notch (once Phase II is completed). Weird that what appears to be the easiest thing to accomplish $ wise, is the only thing that's lacking from this Athletic department.
  18. My opinion is it's an effort situation. Forum, more resources, not spread as thin as the Herald, would be an argument, but still. Schlossman is a content machine. Men's hockey gets the best coverage for the sport in the country. What's stopping the Herald from hyping non-hockey UND sports? How about a 5-minute Vlog after the game last night. That's what disappointing. The Forum / WDAY has people like Izzo that really try and pump out content for Football / Basketball. Herald does not have that.
  19. His position was listed as LB on the signing day graphic. Based on last season's performance, the bar is incredibly low for a pass rushing OLB. He can't be worse than what we witnessed all year.
  20. Pre-Landry leaving, I would have been confident that we wouldn't see have seen any April portal entries outside of those buried on the depth chart. Now, I would be surprised if we don't. This is really bad. Completely embarrassing, no way you spin it.
  21. I don't blame any coach for jumping ship. Chaves is the most culpable for the current situation, no doubt, honestly, until Freund left, I would argue it was 100% his doing. Once things started to go side-ways, Bubba deserves as much criticism as Chaves. Bubba being the head coach is the issue. What a sad way for Bubba to go out.
  22. Jackson Blake currently tied for 5th in the country in scoring with 34 points. Especially with the team's success. Are we talking a legitimate Hobey hattrick type of year?
  23. Fired up for this series. Parroting a bit what @stoneySIOUX said, but you're looking at this series two types of ways. Pairwise / Standings. Usually, I'd say the Pairwise heavily outweighs the conference, but looking at the standings, there's some extra importance to finish 1st. At the same time, finishing 1st or 2nd in the pairwise, given where some of the auto bids are at, seems pretty important as well. 6 points here and next thing you know you're in the home stretch after the bye week.
  24. Completely. Ask me in two weeks, but this feels different. Can’t come back. Either Bubba retires or he’s officially chosen to burn it on the way out. What a sad way to go.
  25. Beyond embarrassing. Need Chaves & Bubba gone.
