Here's what I truly believe. When it comes to the following factors, campus, facilities, city (campus lifestyle), opportunities (FCOA, NIL, ect). There is nothing where UND lacks compared to the other "peer" schools. Phase II being completed shortly will close the gab completely facilities wise. Very simply put, starting now, there's no reason that the right hire couldn't make UND, "the spot to be". I wrote about this last night. Swagger, confidence are two of the main traits I'm looking for. Recruiting / Recruiting / Recruiting. I have no doubt, a new, younger voice with those traits and the new facilities can cause a recruiting boom. Confidence. I looked at too many situations last year, where I'm convinced if you had someone leading the team that had those traits, things would have gone differently. It was so clearly mental, it was crazy. This is a different era. If Freuchte or Schmidt are open to really evaluating the defensive side of the ball. Blowing it up. Then that means so much more than their ties to Bubba. Let's get excited.
-
Agreed. Here’s my thing, the only name that was mentioned in Miller’s article that I would be genuinely excited for is Johanes. The others to varying degrees I have reservations about. Ideally, Johanes is hired and keeps Freuchte as OC. I would be fine with Schmidt x Freuchte. Outside of that? Think I’d actually be most excited for Freuchte as HC. I absolutely would rather have Freuchte > Baldwin. I’m starting to like the sound of it. Young and hungry.
-
Except you know with 100% certainty Bubba will not be on the coaching staff next year. Having him act as head coach like they said originally made no sense. This actually does.
-
Agreed. The interim tag made sense to me given there’s two gigantic dates looming. I’ll also assume the new HC would want some carryover from the old staff. Fruechte would appear to be best bet. He’s one I’d hope they keep him on as OC. Johanes x Freuchte Schmidt x Freuchte Hope it’s the first, but happy with either.
-
How’s Schmidt as a recruiter? Still would prefer a Johanes as HC with Fruechte as OC, but warming up to Schmidt with Fruechte. Imo, what’s been missing is swagger, a confidence with the program. I’m more excited with the thought of those combos than I would be with Baldwin.

How is this Baldwin? Johansen is the perfect fit. I want them to swing. Emphasizing what you wrote.
-
Not sure on personalities, but Johansen and Bobbit would be my top two. Both Coordinators of elite Missouri Valley units. Are we ok with Schleussner or Schmidt?

Let’s highlight this with McFeely’s prediction. For Bubba, legacy has to matter. It makes the most sense for all. Nobody wants to see Bubba go out 360 days from now, forever despised by (almost) the entire fanbase.
-
@UND-FB-FAN I loved every jab. As everyone is well aware, this athletics department is a complete embarrassment. I hope this article gets a lot of attention. I want more and more people pissed. Enough of being the doormat or “peer” schools. Get Bubba & Chaves out.

Thank you, Mike, for actually writing about this! https://www.inforum.com/sports/college/mcfeely-what-becomes-of-bubba-at-und

Yeah, if Bubba is still the coach they will not win 7 games. It’s going to be a disaster.
-
I refuse to believe both the AD and President will quit on the FB program, which is what they’d do if Bubba is retained.
-
@sioux24/7 great stuff! I’d be most interested in the bottom 4.
-
Maybe I’m not explaining this well enough. They have the Football programs best interest in heart, always. Right now, they’d be calling for Bubba’s job, because it’s so apparent the negative effects it brings to the program. They noticed how the fanbase had been becoming more and more uninterested, so they started pushing FBS. All over the push to upgrade the Fargodome. They’ll gladly bury news that would put NDSU in a negative light, but they absolutely will call things out that they feel will negatively effect the program.
-
I should clarify. The Fargo media has the Football programs best interest in heart. When they see something concerning, they’ll call it out.
-
This gets my vote. Burn it down, Bubba! You just have two people to con, nobody else matters, especially your team and those that coach under you!
-
Can anyone explain why TJ has played a disproportionate amount of games compared to Hobie? Hobie will have to damn near string together multiple shut outs to get Berry’s attention. His infatuation with Portal players is crazy to watch year after year.
-
Woke up optimistic that the University will be moving on from Bubba regime. There’s no longer a defense or spin. You can feel it. It’s the only choice Chaves has.
-
The post that 360 had after the game, had the same feeling. Poor Bubba, he feels so bad. It’s beyond frustrating. I understand if you are in the media (count 360 in that) that you want to be careful. But you can be tactful and say things without being super blunt. In a smaller way, they are also accountable for what’s happening as well. The Fargo media would never stand for this.
