Probably nothing to it, but what I would consider the two highest rated DB portal offers just followed JTJ on Twitter. They were not prior to his commitment. Could be nothing, but could this be what momentum looks like?
-
Maybe coaching change has something to do with it not happening.
-
Just an amateur social media detective, but it would add up. By far the most action out of those that the coaches follow.
-
Interesting Twitter following / follower list.

NDSU needs to continue to (1) Win turnover battle (2) Penalty battle 15 to 1. If both happen they can beat Montana State.
-
I haven’t participated in this thread, but I don’t think anyone thinks we have an above average coaching staff, right?
-
Don’t disagree with either of that. If you could play GM, with the change to a 4-2-5, think you’d want +/- 8/10 going into second semester. More so emphasizing on my end how retaining your key players is the biggest key to success the next year.
-
I’ll keep pounding this drum. Retain, retain, retain. Schmidt is pitching a perfect game w/ 7 days left. Yes, they need to add a few key additions, but there was also probably 20+ “key” guys they need to return. They haven’t lost one yet. No news is good news from here on out on losing players. I’m ok with figuring out LB situation during spring ball. Need at least +1 on D-Line @ + 2 in secondary before start of next semester.

Portal closes in 7 days. I believe in FCS football 90% is retain and develop for Top 20 type of programs. Part of that 90% is depth attrition through the portal. The other 10% is improving through the portal. Let’s finish this next week out. By my count there’s 10 “can’t lose” guys that 1883 has not posted about yet. IF they don’t lose those guys this will be by far the most successful retention they’ve had in the portal era. The turnaround will be fully on.

Only hope. Think Mont State gets it done.

Entz ain’t there anymore.

SDSU sucks at play calling.
-
Game. SDSU’s offense can’t do anything. Up to Montana State now. Gronowski should have taken the $, holy has he regressed this year.
-
Thanks for showing up Jacks.

Is there another portal that people have been following over the last few years? There have been great players of course that teams have gotten, but also seems to be a bit of delusion surrounding FCS and portal additions. It’s always going to be about retaining, developing and adding a few pieces. Let’s put it this way, I still think there are double digits guys that 1883 hasn’t announced where it’s unlikely they could find a better or equal counterpart from the portal if they entered.

• Trace Thaden • Gaven Ziebarth • Jett Sutton

From St. Paul. 4 years of eligibility remaining.
-
• Trace Thaden Need to see 100% of eligible lineman on the 2-Deep outside of Folland announced. Buxa, Becher, Gorder, Cariveau, Teeter. Buxa, Becher as returning starters. Thaden imo is presumed starter this upcoming year.

Let's talk LB. The fact is you'll need 1/2 the amount as last year. Clearly, you cannot have 6 LB's as part of the incoming class. That band-aid needs to be ripped off now. Tough situation for the players, but it's just numbers. Ideally, wouldn't mind 1 or 2 others from the returning roster enter. Outside of the LB position, I hope nobody else enters.

Loving these offers today!

You need all hands on deck with returning D-Line & Secondary. LB clearly is a different story. Between incoming FR class and returners, you need 1/2 that amount. Numbers game. Those spots you use to add D-Line & Secondary from the portal.
-
Here's the breakdown of the numbers. Based on Herder's breakdown of roster limits, I'm assuming UND will opt in, in March and will have a roster limit of 105 next Fall. Current 2024 roster. 105 Players Subtract 15 Eligibility, 2 Portal (Feeney not listed on Roster -- Cetak, Folland), 4 Rumored not returning (retiring - Dixon, Schultz, Kupfer, Schaffner). As of 12/17 there are 21 players will not return. Additions. 23 FR class, +1 Portal As of 12/17 there will be 24 new players. Currently need to subtract 3 to get to 105. There will have to other players that either are unaccounted for in the "retiring" category or by entering the portal.
