  2. Wisco added another '02 Dman today --- I'm just fascinated by their recruiting. 29 recruits currently, BC (22), Harvard & Northeastern also are in the 20s.
  3. Really big early departure, Notre Dame will still be good, but would have been dominant next year w/ Bjork.
  4. Tambellini II, have a tough time adjusting to the college game, instead of keep working just go to the WHL. This one would be really infuriating for BU.
  5. No argument there, I just think it's going to be a bad look when they begin to tell 30% of their commitments on a yearly basis they aren't coming in. It'll get to a point where it has some negative outcome once players / parents / advisors see what's happening.
  6. I'd be nervous if I was a Wisconsin fan, in the short term, over recruiting will pay dividends, but it'll be a bad look in the long term. With the way recruiting works this day and age, it's not uncommon for a recruit to verbal young, but never make it. What Wisconsin is doing isn't going to be a "didn't work out" scenario that schools run into a time or two every couple years. It's clear they are deliberately over recruiting and going with the method of having 10 recruits, picking the 6 best every year and telling the other 4 to get lost. I realize there's no difference between 28 & 29 recruits and Wisconsin fans have to feel good since they've been on a roll, but I'll always feel confident with Western Canada kids. I mean there has to be tipping point, right? Maybe Rizzo would be that for Wisconsin, because what they are doing is ridiculous (not in a good way). I'm going with an uniformed prediction that Rizzo will verbal to UND w/in a month.
  7. With no inside information, based strictly on who he follows on Twitter, my guess is he either ends up at UND, Wisconsin or Denver. He has visited UND and Wisconsin for sure.
  8. After doing some research it seems that he was pretty much a consensus Top 5 pick throughout the year. Western Elite Hockey Prospects had him #1 in their Pre-season Top 10 and #3 a month before the draft. I'm with you that although he was taken #39, that is a massive drop from Top 5. Makes me feel more comfortable as well. A lot can change from their Bantam year to their draft year (obviously), but as of today, there's no doubt he'd be the #1 Canadian NCAA prospect from the '02 class. Taking the Tychonick (& Rizzo) route of playing your Junior / Senior year in BCHL and coming in as a true freshman with 2 years of juniors under your belt. Now let's keep our fingers crossed that the coaching staff will land the #1 in the '01 class in Rizzo.
  9. It's wild looking at their recruiting list. It's not like the majority of their current list is made up of guys that committed years ago either. 22 or their 28 2018 and beyond recruits verbally committed within the last year. That would leave only 6 left from the old coaching staff. Using Heisenbergs site, I looked at the incoming year (if it was either / or, I used the higher expected year to join). Recruits by class: '18 - 7 '19 - 14 '20 - 4 '21 - 3 I mean 14 guys in the '19 class, 13 signed within the last year, just amazing.

  13. SFI final write up: To sum it up: Positions we are content with: Defensive Line, Tight End, Cornerback, Wide Receiver, Quarterback, Running Back, Outside Linebacker. Positions we are concerned about: Offensive Line, Inside Linebacker, Safety. They clarified the OL concern saying it needed to go from good to great, which you can't argue. Grady back in the mix, all the returning starting, plus solid RS Freshman class, they should be as deep as they've ever been. In all reality, the only "true" concern I see is with Safety. They need a transfer that can step in and be the 2/3 guy behind Reyes.
  14. Going back and reading what SFI had to say about the LB unit after Spring ball: A freshman could be starting opposite Jade Lawrence at outside linebacker. Lawrence is pretty much a lock to start on the weakside but the emergence of Jaxson Turner and Ray Haas make it interesting (those positions are somewhat interchangeable). Right now, I would slate Tanner Palmborg as the starter heading into the summer but Haas will push him hard. The inside linebacker position is one big question mark (?). Donnell Rodgersshould be a starter-we are high on him. But after that it is a bunch of inexperienced players battling it out. Jake Disterhaupt is a senior, yes, but he has never played ILB. After those two there are two freshmen in Jake Rastas and Jake Geier, to go along with Oscar Nevermann, who played RB last year. They need Dijon Murray to stay healthy and finally get out on the field after being on campus now for over a year. Cam Hunt could be a wild card but he missed the entire spring and valuable reps. Mildly worried about the ILB position. Circling back to the Poole situation and depth at LB, he wasn't mentioned at all by SFI who talked about 11 other LB's in their write up. The LB unit will be young and a lot of inexperience in the two deep, but Poole doesn't appear to be a huge missing piece to what they have next year. Also nice to have a Freshman like Larson who could be in the mix too.
  15. What's exciting with Ketteringham is he's a proven FCS QB, starting the past two seasons and putting up ok numbers behind an atrocious OL. Great size and athleticism, we don't know his ceiling, based on the terrible teams he's been on, but we do know his floor, which is much more important. Until you see what a guy can do at this level, you don't really know (i.e. Zimmerman, Boltmann), but it's comforting having Ketteringham in the fold, who is proven. Will be exciting to see what he can do with massive talent upgrades around him at all positions. Great get by the coaching staff!
  16. Great news!! IMO he'll be the guy in '18 / '19

  20. You think the coaching staff is looking at bring in a drop down / graduate Senior to backfill spots at Safety / LB, or are they good with what they have on roster?
  21. Trying to be a half glass full guy with regards to Poole / Flowers (& O'Brien). Three players that were expected to be on the team that aren't, causing a need for 2 LB & 1 Safety. O'Brien (starter) and Pooler / Flowers more depth guys. My hope is everything happened early enough, to give them enough time to look for players looking for the one year Graduate route. Glass half full being with O'Brien / Flowers being Seniors, you only need a one year Band-Aid with them. Poole, would have been a depth guy anyway this year, with little experience, so a one year Band-Aid for him shouldn't be difficult. Replacing O'Brien is tough, but my hope is the coaching staff can find comparable replacements for Flowers / Poole.
  22. The real question is if they'll have enough defensive players to even fill out a 2 Deep Chart. Starting with Arnell, this has been a nightmare offseason defensively.
  23. I really do think there is a silver lining to this situation. Poole was dealing before he got caught and would still be doing it if he didn't get caught. Obviously you would rather not have this situation, but given the choice of him (1) Getting caught, kicked off the team / school (2) Continue dealing, I'd choose (1) every single time. It isn't a good look for UND Football, but him getting out of the locker room / school, is much more positive than the negative press his arrest brought. It's unfair to speculate, so I'm trying to really watch my words, but just in general, this will be a wake up call to everyone on the team that they better really think about their actions (even if it's not to the extent of what Poole was doing). I'm happy he got caught, negative press today, but will be a positive overall.
  24. I've been trying to dig for information on him as well, I'm sure UND is in the mix, know Wisconsin is also after him. Probably the #1 '01 uncommitted recruit. Ryan O'Reilly decommitted from Omaha yesterday, looks to be another really good prospect.

    2018 UND Recruiting

Absolutely, getting in first and building a relationship is crucial when a player ends with multiple scholarship offers. UND offered 2nd, now Enz is up to 7 offers. Along with the UNI and Western Illinois, also Indiana State, Illinois State, SDSU and NDSU
