Trying to be a half glass full guy with regards to Poole / Flowers (& O'Brien). Three players that were expected to be on the team that aren't, causing a need for 2 LB & 1 Safety. O'Brien (starter) and Pooler / Flowers more depth guys. My hope is everything happened early enough, to give them enough time to look for players looking for the one year Graduate route. Glass half full being with O'Brien / Flowers being Seniors, you only need a one year Band-Aid with them. Poole, would have been a depth guy anyway this year, with little experience, so a one year Band-Aid for him shouldn't be difficult. Replacing O'Brien is tough, but my hope is the coaching staff can find comparable replacements for Flowers / Poole.

The real question is if they'll have enough defensive players to even fill out a 2 Deep Chart. Starting with Arnell, this has been a nightmare offseason defensively.

I really do think there is a silver lining to this situation. Poole was dealing before he got caught and would still be doing it if he didn't get caught. Obviously you would rather not have this situation, but given the choice of him (1) Getting caught, kicked off the team / school (2) Continue dealing, I'd choose (1) every single time. It isn't a good look for UND Football, but him getting out of the locker room / school, is much more positive than the negative press his arrest brought. It's unfair to speculate, so I'm trying to really watch my words, but just in general, this will be a wake up call to everyone on the team that they better really think about their actions (even if it's not to the extent of what Poole was doing). I'm happy he got caught, negative press today, but will be a positive overall.

I've been trying to dig for information on him as well, I'm sure UND is in the mix, know Wisconsin is also after him. Probably the #1 '01 uncommitted recruit. Ryan O'Reilly decommitted from Omaha yesterday, looks to be another really good prospect.

Absolutely, getting in first and building a relationship is crucial when a player ends with multiple scholarship offers. UND offered 2nd, now Enz is up to 7 offers. Along with the UNI and Western Illinois, also Indiana State, Illinois State, SDSU and NDSU

Now has offers from Northern Iowa, SDSU & Montana State along w/ UND

University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season

That's how I see it as well. A 5-8 of Johnson, Bast, Kierstad and Rieger is considerably deeper and better than Johnson, Bast, Rieger and Chartrand. With injuries, switching guys in, UND usually has the "7th guy" play 25+ games, so you need to be able to roll 7 deep. This also clears future years with Tychonick being the only '18 commit being able to step in for Wolanin who will most likely turn pro after next year. Excited for the dcore next year and for years to come. -
Looks like Jake Braccini is on the UND coaches radar. He won the Bantam POTY award and noticed the UND coaches Twitter (@NodakTradition) retweeted the link. He also follows the UND coaches. Would be nice to make it 3 Bantam POTY in a row. http://www.youthhockeyhub.com/news_article/show/789396?referrer_id=967184

They are eligible next year to win conference titles, once Basketball moves to the Summit, the Football team isn't eligible to win the conference title the two years following (which wouldn't matter, because if they win the league, they are getting an at large).

If you wanted UND to get nailed for something, you can start the parade. I'm stunned by this list of requests, I would have never thought they'd be going back that far. Like someone else mentioned, I believe this will be a case of them digging until they find something. One thing I'm really interested in seeing is how much steam this has gained / lost since the report first came out (Apr 21). It's still early, but 50 minutes after he posted it, there is 1 RT, compared to 85 with his original Investigation post on Apr 21. I'll look after a day to see what it's at. Why I'm interested, is we all know there will be a small group that wants to destroy UND and will take this anger to their grave. I just have a feeling there was a larger group that wanted to see this investigated, but, after a couple more weeks of cooling off and seeing all that they are asking, there are backing off. I think you'll see more and more people turn on the Women's hockey team, as this OCR investigation continue.

I thought it was absolutely pathetic the way they handled it, but that's me. There were 5 sports cut in the past two years and no one acted like they did (& the rest of the Women's team).

University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season
AJS replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I think this is best for everyone involved. Tomek needs minutes and they just aren't here, as for UND, I'd rather have Thome back up Johnson this year (hopefully splitting some time). -
So, a complaint was filed on April 1st, we first heard about it on April 21st, does anyone know what the kind of time table there is for this OCR investigation?

Well there it is, also, it's not the pinned post, which is the one where Annelese is suing her dad (along with 18 others) for $240 million, but a little further down.

https://siouxfb.areavoices.com/2017/04/19/spring-2017-what-we-learned/ Our biggest concern, the offensive line, has a ways to go. Youth emerged in Ryan Tobin, Noah Mortel, and Nate Nguon. Tobin is by far the most developed of the freshmen OL. The incumbents held serve for the most part but that won’t be good enough come fall. This spring was great for reps but this summer could be huge for whoever wants to step up and win one the open offensive line jobs. Which is ALL FIVE of them. We have heard that RG Demon Taylor has lost weight through better training/diet and it has helped him on the field. That is good news as Taylor has the tools but needs to still put it all together. The offensive tackle position will be an open battle, as we stated above, throughout fall camp. A.J. Stockwell, Mat Cox, Bryce Blair, Adam Stiner, Noah Mortel, Sean Russo, and Bennett Helgren (the last three are freshmen) are all battling but it is far from clear who will be where on August 31st at Utah. Simply put, the tackle position was not good enough in 2016. I want to take a closer look at the offensive line. The unit was atrocious for about 1/2 the 2016 season, but I thought by the end, it was a pretty solid unit. This year they return all but one offensive lineman, with the addition of a talented RS Freshman class. I'm trying to read between the lines with the word "concern". I'd say there's absolutely no doubt they'll be better this year than last, right? Is the concern they won't be a great unit, but only a good, or more they'll be terrible?

Pretty big news out of the Valley "Sources have told the Journal Star that Valley officials visited Murray State on Monday, Valparaiso on Tuesday and have campus visits set for Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Omaha." http://www.pjstar.com/sports/20170425/mvc-visiting-campuses-of-potential-new-members

Those are two of my main questions as well. It's slightly comforting that it appears UND did their due diligence before making the cuts, hiring Baker Donelson to what we assume checked off on everything, as well as this was something that they expected would happen. I'm still nervous as I'm not familiar with the history of the potential negative outcomes if this weren't to go the way that UND / Baker Donelson assumed. Could they mandate that Women's hockey be reinstated? What are the potential outcomes if UND is said not to be Title IX compliant? This is the final war that had to take place in order to get rid of the black hole that is Women's hockey. We never would have seen the full potential of what the University's athletic teams were capable with that anchor and this is the final battle.

From what I can gather from Twitter, Murray State's board had a meeting this morning, one of the topics on the agenda was Conference discussion. MVC hasn't offered any invites yet, but it sounds like if the MVC were to offer an invite to Murray State, they'd accept.

https://undhockey.areavoices.com/?p=106674 Montgomery situation, talking about players leaving early, if he were too. “If my situation was to change, I think they would think long and hard about changing, too,” Montgomery told the Denver Post. “If I was to leave, I know one of those guys for sure is gone.” It seemed like an odd comment and I didn’t know what to make of it. <-- Schlossman Definitely sounds like he's trying to leverage a better deal from Denver, but I think he comes off looking terrible.
