For those that follow the HS game closely, how would you rate how Ausmus / Panzer have played for EGF this year? Panzer: 16G 8A - 24 Points (17 Games) Ausmus: 6G 17A - 23 Points (19 Games)

What's unique about this situation is I agree with both @Feff and @Oxbow6. Put me in the camp that believes Scheel getting back on track and getting back to his first half form gives this team the best chance come March / April. Going into this weekend I thought Thome deserved and needed to start Friday and then unless he was lights out, go with Scheel Saturday. Well, he was lights out. I was so impressed with his poise, how structured he looked, never out of place, always squared up. He looked like first half Scheel. The rest of this post will read like @Oxbow6's, need to go with Thome tonight and if he plays well, he starts again. It should be his net until he proves otherwise.

I couldn't agree more. Similar situation with my frustration with the Football bidding process. Make it easy for people to donate and publicize it. Every 6 months I would have some sort of "Flash" fundraising effort for Phase II. Have a link, promote it and see how you do for a week. It would be a good reminder and get people talking. It wouldn't be much, but I would absolutely give every time if they made it that easy.

Can we move this to the 2020 recruiting thread? Competing offers is really the only way to create these lists, so I have no problems with it. It should be a moving scale though, weighted more on actual offers at the time of commitment. Not denying the #1 ranked guy isn't a great player, but did he have 18 active FBS offers at the time he committed to USD? Of course not. The reality is UND always has a lot of one offer guys, so I never expect them to be high on these lists. The program isn't in the position currently where we'd like, but you also can't deny that the coaching staff either (1) Has an eye for talent (2) Doing a fine job molding the talent they have, because for a program that is heavy on one offer guys, they seem to be doing pretty decent job with the results (Borderline Top 25 team).

Huh

Am I the only person who thinks this thread should be deleted? Feels irresponsible really. @SiouxSoccer123 creating @Hockeyjockey was a nice touch though.
-
I'm so convinced that @SiouxSoccer123 missed the email oversight that we will not hear from him / her again.
-
Not necessarily. Here's why. This is obviously complete speculation. We don't know how many people they looked at before they landed on Weatherby. They could have went through the entire Basketball, Football, Volleyball and Hockey teams looking for someone's phone that ended in 71 speculating it was a UND athlete. They finally found someone who's ended in 71 (JW) and then clearly jumped to conclusions completely missing that (see previous post @The Sicatoka -- jo*******@g****.*** is not the same as ja********@g****.***. ). It makes sense. The email mistake imo would only be something you'd make if you had been at it (looking for the 71 connection) for awhile. I mean jo*******@g****.*** is not the same as ja********@g****.***. It's clearly not Weatherby. Why would the originator delete it? They knew someone is looking. Edit: I guess it would be any athlete who's name with a Jo, but possibly they just started with J.

This is my guess as well.

UND recruits capture the USHL Forward (Ness) and Defenseman (Miller) of the week. Miller has won this award in back to back weeks. Ness has really put together a really great year with 31 points (14G 17A) in 31 games.

For this team to maximize its potential, it's absolutely crucial to get Scheel back on track. He is the better goalie of the two. That'll have to wait though. Thome should get the start on Friday. If he's not lights out, go with Scheel Saturday. Being aware they are currently both #1 in the conference and in the pairwise, I still feel it's important they sweep this weekend. They need to start stringing wins together.

Everyone understands how the process works, you seem to be missing my point. Not the hill I'm going to die on though. -

I'm aware, but it's not this year. It's not so much losing the regional this year, it's intentionally trying to game the system that I'm disappointed in. -

I might be overreacting, but I find that sort of attempt at trickery to be really gross. You have a good thing going in Fargo, why push it? I'm happy it backfired. I also wish this was more well known, they deserve backlash for it. -
It might be recency bias, but I really don't remember a situation like this before. Situation being you have this many high end players that are ready to come in with a possibility of not enough spots. By high end (specifically looking at draft rankings) I mean three in the top 15 of incoming college players (all positions). You also have a 5th round pick who by all indications is having a great year. It's really as close to a win / win situation as you can get. Of course, you hope that nobody leaves early, but what a contingency plan if someone does.

Speaking of Mitchell Miller, he has an absurd 12 points (3G 9A) in his past 6 games. 5-17-22 (34 games) for the year. Ranked 44th by Central Scouting NA in their mid-year rankings. Talk about making your case for next year. There could be an argument that he should be the #2 dman coming in next year after Sanderson.
-
I wouldn’t think we’d see Miller next year unless two leave early. My guess is it’s Sanderson, Kleven, Moore, Miller, Bast in that order. Guess you could make the Miller > Moore argument. Although a year younger Miller will have one more year of Juniors under his belt, more International experience and will be higher draft pick.
-
I also need to know this.
-
They’ll turn the corner eventually, have a hard time believing it’ll be tonight. 5-2 Duluth.
-
I’m starting to put a twist on the current situation. We’re at a point where goaltending can’t be worse, this is rock bottom. Defense hasn’t helped, but I mean look at those numbers. We also know that Scheel especially is a fantastic goalie and Thome is a very solid #2. I truly believe this will benefit this team in the long run. A loss is a loss. You could make an argument better to be embarrassed. This will get everyone’s attention on the team. As weird as it sounds, when picking an aspect to completely melt down, I would think that a great goalie slumping in the middle of the year might be the best option.
-
I wish I felt the same.
-
Defensively and in net this team is completely broken. It might be time to re-assess expectations for the regular season, tomorrow will tell me a lot. Good news is they have a giant cushion and a lot of time to fix it.
-
Definitely. Tomorrow is huge. I don’t see anyway they win.

This. Shut him down for a few weeks.
