  1. I have a hard time remembering the USHL age requirements, so for my sake here they are: Minimum Age and Maximum Age. The junior age group shall include participants who are at least sixteen (16) years of age and no older than twenty (20) years of age as of December 31st of the current playing season. So @AJS is correct: '03 birth years age out of USHL eligibility; '04 birth years remain eligible for the upcoming season. UND's 2003 birth-year commits who were in juniors this past season: Cody Croal Jayden Jubenville UND's 2004 birth-year commits who were in juniors this past season: Cade Littler that's it. Just Cade Littler. (Jaksen Panzer was an '04 too.)
  2. It would be a gut punch to lose either Blake or Berg. Losing both would really hurt. Like about two gut punches worth. You hope that part of the payoff of getting a player who isn't a first-round draft pick is having him stay that extra year (or two)...whatever that means for a particular player.
  3. Pair him with Dupont perhaps?
  4. Does anyone know if Boisvert or Croal typically play center or wing?
  5. On faceoffs... Last season, the four main FO guys for UND were, in descending order by frequency: Cam Berg: 394-310 (56.0%). 704 total draws. Owen McLaughlin: 194-255 (43.2%). 449 total draws. Louis Jamernik: 249-181 (57.9%). 430 total draws. Jake Schmaltz: 144-157 (47.8%). 301 total draws. For RIT last season, Carter Wilkie was 566-478 (54.2%) for 1,044 total draws. That's about equal to UND's top two FO guys combined. In 2022-23, Wilkie took 858 draws (53.3%); and in 2021-22, 639 draws (54.1%). That's 2,541 career draws. So, if nothing else, Wilkie has a lot of practice.
  6. This. I just do not understand Schmaltz's usage. Absolute head scratcher. He seems like an awesome kid and has a reputation for being defensively sound, but there's been so little offensive production. Even on the third line, he's miscast, let alone the PP. It reminds me of how former Twins manager Ron Gardenhire would play utilityman Nick Punto every freaking day. When it came to Punto, Gardenhire could not help himself. In 2007, Punto was one of the worst hitters in baseball (OPS+ of 53 where an OPS+ of 100 is exactly average; 53 is just awful) yet Gardenhire played Punto in 150 games. And in over a quarter of those games, Gardenhire put Punto first or second in the batting order. It was so bizarre. Anyway, I'm glad I got that old Twins gripe off my chest. Here's hoping that Schmaltz lights the lamp 20 times next year.
  7. That's interesting. I've been told that campus rinks are not eligible for bid submissions (which apparently is incorrect).
  8. They multiply like weeds.
  9. I dislike those "Future You" commercials even more.
  10. We did get bit by production deficiencies on that occasion.
  11. Lleyton Roed, Sophomore forward of Bemidji State, signs with Seattle. Roed led BSU in scoring this season with 30 points. Seems like a pretty big blow for the Beavers.
  12. The lower scoring environment is so underappreciated. Shrink the goalie pads, stat!!
  13. ESPN usually does a good job at the technical aspects of its productions. But we'll see how it looks at 4pm CT for WMU v Michigan State.
  14. Also confirmed on CHN: Persson Will Return To North Dakota Net
  15. Michigan Tech v BC at 1pm CT MTU's most important player might be the referees. Tech needs to pound BC without taking penalties, while Pietila stands on his head.
  16. Here's hoping Tech shocks the world and beats BC tomorrow.
  17. Omaha was a much better team this season than I expected them to be. This was a coulda-shoulda-woulda game for them.
  18. Dang. Let's hope not.
  19. Feels like the Gophers will get three if they get one.
  20. Grammar lessons from gfhockey was not on my bingo card for the day.
  21. Working his dream job in Cornell's admissions department.
  22. David Carle really wants to move the regional games to campus sites. I'm guessing if DU loses today as a #1 seed playing a de facto road game across the country, Carle will be on fire regarding this issue. Go UMass.
  23. No worries. The last I had heard was speculation that he was dealing with a nagging injury. In any case, I'm hoping Ludvig is 100% on Friday. We're gonna need him at his best for the next four games.
