  1. Nobody makes me appreciate Schloss more than Wellens. Hatten and Myers are both good at their jobs, as was Shane Frederick. Wellens is not.
  2. Interesting quotes... https://www.therinklive.com/mens-college/nchc/bulldogs-walk-the-walk-when-it-comes-to-culture-five-things-to-know-about-incoming-transfer-luke-bast
  3. Is anyone else left with the stench of Mel on them?
  4. Howard is a pretty obvious answer. Wodon claims he was expecting Persson to transfer to UND since January, so maybe he heard about something around that time.
  5. https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2023/05/02_Tensions-Over-Transfer-Portal.php Addresses Michigan, but also names MSU and UND as other "aggressive" schools.
  6. A former beer league teammate had a son who wanted to play in the BCHL after SSM but couldn't get one of the few roster spots allowed for Americans. Weatherby had to list his mom's address in the Puget Sound in order to qualify for his spot on Wenatchee, the one US-based team in the BCHL.
  7. Keep in mind that St Thomas and now Augustana are the only private schools with hockey between the front range and South Bend. And CC/ND both have high admission standards. The ability to play close to home at a private school will appeal to lots of suburban skaters in the cities.
  8. If Fenton signs a lengthy contract with penalties for leaving, by all means go forward with it. That means he's trying to make college hockey its niche. Just remember what happened when the Gophers thought they were bigger than the state of MN.
  9. It's hard to enforce rules being made up as they go...
  10. Potentially taking orders from and appeasing someone that doesn't take hockey seriously if Fenton leaves. They need to make it known they are all in on hockey as the conference's niche, a la PAC-xx schools investing in Olympic sports.
  11. Exit fees can be fluid. ASU could sign up for a diminishing fee, amortized and everything. St Cloud can have a static zero, Denver's should be higher, etc.
  12. Berry is hopefully on the phone with Alex Young right now, just entered the portal today.
  13. Plus the looming association with major conferences; MAC is just as likely as Summit to pair up or absorb.
  14. Twin Cities market, Summit member, fancy arena on the way. We want them on the schedule, be it in or out of conference.
  15. Nobody is going to waive their exit fee when that happens. Maybe theirs will be higher.
  16. He's not one to say stuff to stir the pot, Miami wanting out makes sense. ASU wants a conference, period. Powers said as much in a previous CHN article.
  17. Let them leave, first step in reconfiguring the conferences by region.
  18. Don't forget THE Oregon State Beavers....
  19. According to Mick Hatten, their beat writer
  20. No surprise that Portz went back home. Good luck to him when he isn't playing us.
  21. Until we get NIL set up, we are at a disadvantage compared to Big Ten, BC, and others. Hell, even friggin' Oma-fraud has a collective. It's not a fun pill to swallow, but it's the current landscape. Fire Chaves? Maybe a flooded inbox with questions about our stalled NIL status will get him off his arse? In the meanwhile, plucking top players from lesser programs is not ideal, but let's be realists; if they've proven their ability to play at the NCAA level, their path shouldn't matter.
  22. Rand was on Spittin Chiclets and mentioned he lost out on a recruit that was offered $25k x 4 years NIL elsewhere.
  23. Hellesten to No Hardware, joining Luke Reid and Harrison Blaisdell
