  1. Hahaha came here to post something to the same affect.
  2. Omaha doesn't need to be our only farm team.
  3. Unofficial Israels recruiting trip this weekend. Sounds like a solid captain.
  4. Anyone familiar with Ryder McDonald? GF native, leads Shattuck 18AAA in scoring as a 17 year old. Potulny's kid did the same last year. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/804132/ryder-mcdonald
  5. USCHO podcast mentioned a Palm Springs college hockey tournament to be announced soon.
  6. I'll take them over Manitoba. Have an exhibition between Mary and Jamestown that same weekend. North Dakota is an affordable place for people to play an expensive sport, this would a great opportunity to grow the game across the state.
  7. Hopefully we get Minot State on the calendar at some point.
  8. Watched from the PP goal to the end of the first, and we looked good. My understanding is this year's iteration of the ntdp is having success against college teams. Need to be ready on Friday for a team that is already in playoff mode; Alaska needs at least 1 win this weekend to have even a chance at making the tournament.
  9. A few more good vacation spots with viable arenas: Charlotte, Jacksonville, suburban Atlanta (based on this being Cedar Park, it's not far fetched). It'll be interesting to see if it lines up with a Texas football game in Austin. All of these places have that same possibility with NFL games.
  10. San Diego has a nearly 13k arena close to the airport and relatively close to Hotel del Coronado, which is a bucket list hotel. Hopefully this sells out quickly and demonstrates that the sweet spot is a little larger than they are aiming for here. Palm Springs has a nice new arena as well with 10k seats. They also just opened the first surf park in the western US. Florida is littered with arenas in the size range too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_indoor_arenas_in_the_United_States
  11. It does, but the last two at NHL arenas didn't sell out. Trying to recreate the magic at Orleans, but this ain't it. Hopefully they run shuttles from wherever the alumni gathering is (likely in the downtown/capital/campus area) to the venue.
  12. Apparently Austin is the front runner for the next destination game, at their rink way out in the suburbs. Hopefully not at the same time as ACL Festival.
  13. So cheating/plagiarism? Hilarious timing if it's the latter. Please leave it at that, everybody.
  14. Charlie Burggraf steps down from his PWHL head coach role before it even starts. Had him as a youth sports coach (not hockey); great guy and easily the best coach I ever played for. He possessed great perspective and taught me some lessons outside of athletics.
  15. An adult I knew growing up was a former D1 basketball player at a "Hidden Ivy" known more for academics than athletics. Even in the 70's it was clear sports comes first for student-athletes; he was told to attend every class and sit in the front row, and he'd never get less than a C. It's a different world now, but it's hard to imagine that rule of thumb no longer applying.
  16. The relationship between NCAA and MJ will change soon. All it takes is one player pointing out in a lawsuit that NIL pays much more than the paltry stipend they get, and suddenly you can play NCAA after a full career in MJ. I give it 5 years.
  17. Majoring in Communications. No additional comments necessary.
  18. Hey @scpa0305 what's the scouting report on Johnny Conlin? He follows us (among the usual suspects) on social media. Sounds like a legit D1 prospect.
  19. An alumni game over all star weekend would be fun! Might not work with NCHC conference scheduling though.
  20. That would definitely rock the boat. Only RIT, HC and Bentley have the academic standards to move up to the ECAC, but then again with the ivies gone, that may not matter anymore. This may be wishful thinking, but hopefully the next round of realignment recognizes that the sport is regional and rivalries can't be forced.
  21. Liquor Lyles noooooooooo! Permanently closed. One of my favorites in my freewheeling 20's.
  22. It really was only a matter of time. It makes conference games/standings more important; previously all that mattered was home ice in the first round. I personally almost exclusively cared about pairwise up to this point, that will change when this happens.
  23. Talks about UND potentially being invited to the Friendship 4 in Belfast in the future. https://open.spotify.com/episode/5PVHtwTnSYeVJIa3KWwVgy?si=kB5q9notSAC4Qt6xi-JVIQ
  24. He is leaving the team in better shape than he found it, is doing a good job as the captain, and definitely strives for legendary status. He will be missed; hopefully he departs a champion.
