Also if Montreal can be the Canadiens (or the NY Yankees), I think the University of North Dakota can be the Americans. Canadiens has a "weird logo" that doesn't really represent "them," UND could use the same logo (the current indian head). Afterall Native Americans are also Americans. It's perfect. (We'd essentially be dropping the Native from UND "native americans.") In another strange twist the Canadiens minor league affiliate is the IceDogs. (People had ealier thrown out the idea of the SunDogs as a possible replacement name).

The state of Minnesota nickname is The Gopher State. The state of Nebraskas nickname is the Cornhusker State. The state of Wisconsins nickname is the Badger State. The state of Michigans nicknames are The Wolverine State, The Great Lakes State. The state of Iowas nicknames are The Hawkeye State, The Tall Corn State. The state of North Dakotas nicknames are Peace Garden State, Roughrider State, Flickertail State I see a trend that I would like to see continue.

We need someone (maybe some presidents of some universities) to get the ball rolling.

Let's not forget the original arguement. The trend is that the NCAA is catching the MJs. Maybe in 20 years the NCAA will equal or pass MJ's in many aspects and that worries Canadians.

Any way to impeach the President, Myles Brand? Without a court case, I'm thinking maybe a new president will have completely different views than Myles, and reverse this decision?

Old news. April 6th, from the guy who calls the Big Sky ever other day Steve Hallstrom: Summary: The Sky is thinking of adding two ND schools and 1 SD school. Bison Media Blog and basically this "new info" was rumor spreading by getting offers by "very reliable sources."

I wish there was a fact based page that showed time frames, links to actual stories, of stuff like this, because it seems to always come up. Now that UND is playing UNI, I for see a lot of (bison) fans on the site saying "why not us"?

I agree with everything you said. Now is the time to change the name with eventual divisional changes. To me its not worth the fight anymore. UND will most likely lose in court and then what? It's not worth it to me. Here's what I said 2 years ago...looks to be coming true. From this discussion.

What happens when UND sues them and losses? UND would essentially be suing an ogranization they voluntarily want to belong to that has said you play by our rules or you can leave or be forced out. Yeah I know there could be slander etc, my guess would be the judge would side with the NCAA. I'm sure the NCAA knew what they were getting into when they started it all.

I think UND will now be off the list!!!

My point: Has there even ever been an "official" petition by UND alum to keep the name? If not there should be. Something to show (compare) when stuff like this comes out. As PCM put it: context of the situation.

IF a BTHC was formed and UND was offered an invitation, it would be in their best interest to accept. Best watch out, their will be talk of the Big Ten for all sports.

Suite 49 is going to sell beer at Springfest. You can take it anywhere in the park. No permit needed for individuals. Have to have wristband. By the wording those should be in "bullet" form. Now the real question: is it legal to drink your own beer in the park?

You can only blame location for so much. Before Winona won it, "there was no way an uppermidwest team could win" but they did now we/you have to rationalize why they won. What happens if/when UND won it? Out the window (except probably won't happen now cause UND will be moving D1). I guess I'll face the fact: "anywhere but UND can win because of location." Got it! (*except for the other 3 Major sports on campus cause they have all won championships in the past few years: Hockey, Football, W Basketball: Got It).
