D coordinator at two FBS teams, D coordinator for two Grey Cups Champions in Canada, now the Linebackers coach in the NFL. Sounds much better than a FCS D coordinator so yes. Sorta like Craig Bohl worked for NDSU then went FBS coordinator. Then got hired at NDSU. If UND was going to hire a D coordinator wouldn't it be more likely to get a FBS one than an FCS one? I'm just saying most people from the outside looking in without relation to where they went to school would probably pick DeBoer over Bubba.

In hindsight UND could have just hired Bubba back in 2008.

When they get to Mankato or Duluth and see 2,000 fans vs 10,000 in the Alerus while UND is kicking ass and taking names theyll wonder why they ever left. You can't run from your problems. You build relationships with other players and sticking it out through the tough times will only make those stronger.

If bubba gets the job we know that in the future you will have to have previously coached at UND to get the head job. I can't remember the last time the head coach had not previously coached at UND....1950s?

Dean Blais was coaching High School Hockey when he was named UNDs head hockey coach. Can you imagine Faison naming a current high school football coach the head man of UND football right now?! Even if he had been an assistant coach at UND five years ago?

Brian Kelly (lost to Dale Lennon in d2 championship game) took Notre Dame to Championship game. Dale Lennon (lost to Brian Kelly in d2 championship game) might get fire from an FCS school. At that time both coaches seemed about "equal."

It's ok to jump from NAIA to D2 but not ok to jump to FCS? Would bubba to in the FCS now if it wasn't for his "UND Buddies"?

Exactly. It's much easier to say no than to say be happy it might be someone that was on a lot of people's minds before the process started. I don't think Brian Jones was on anyone's short list before he was hired.

How many championships in that free for all did Mary, Dickinson, Jamestown, Valley City, Minot, Mayville State win in the NAIA? 0. USF had only one in 1996...they wanted more. So they hired DeBoer and BOOM!!!

That's the dilemma and real world questions....I don't know how about a compromise at one FBS game. Not at Portland State too desperate for money. If PSU had higher attendance at home games they could make money on home games as I believe the stadium holds over 20,000. Chicken or the egg?

If you want to BUILD a program you don't schedule FBS teams. You schedule non schedule cupcakes at home. It gives you two more wins and helps you make the playoffs because you are suddenly at an advantage thanks to virtually every other FCS team playing and losing to FBS teams. (FBS teams win at over 90% pace) Or you schedule two FBS games in a season. Maybe three the year next. Maybe cut a scholarship here or there. They article doesn't seem to care much about winning only money...pound foolish penny wise?

The Big Ten feels the same way you do. That's why it doesn't want to schedule FCS teams anymore. But they also like "doing it for the money." I agree with you is rather see them play st cloud or Duluth in basketball. But NDSU also played an NAIA team. NDSU plays more non Division I teams this year than UND does. So I'm not going to complain too much.
