You mean like: Going back 30+ years, every coach at UND has won a national championship within their first five years at UND except Dave Hakstol.

I'm happy Hakstol made the NHL playoffs, its equivalent to being the #30 team in college hockey as over half the NHL teams make the playoffs. I'm happy to watch him succeed. As other have pointed out, his demeanor might be better suited for the NHL system. Berry's legacy is already cemented his college hockey history...first year college coach (with "exceptions" you can look up yourself) to win a Natty. Coaches don't make UND. UND makes Coaches.

Lot of linguistics my small mind doesn't understand...but point is the new coach went further in his first year than the previous coach went in his last nine years...you call it a "cheap shot", or call it "reality." I don't care. I'll call them National Champs.

No one will be surprised when/if a split among the Big Sky happens....I even think Foulerton mentioned something like too many teams a bad for a conference.,

Yes it does indeeed suck to split an autobid among alot of teams ...BUT...idaho is already in the big sky basketball.....the announcement about their football team has no impact on that. ...also I believe UC davis and cal poly are only in the big sky football...not big sky basketball. a split down the road for even basketball would be about seven years...I'm sure the commissioner, new or not knows more than I (we) do about it.

Don't know the logistics, but that would be an autobid in somethinking like seven years.

as I said a down year at UND is one game from making the Frozen Four or not.....UND will always make the playoffs....thats a gurantee....but heck now that they lost so many underclassman at least the worst they will probably do is equal Hakstols best years the last nine years at UND.

Anyone think the coaches said "Yeah Luke you're totally ready for the next and NHL level, nothing left for you to accomplish at UND." When he wondered if he should turn pro.

This is the most underclassman to leave UND early and turn pro in a decade! No wonder some are saying this might be a rebuilding year next year.

You old people and thinking mid 30s is young! Better get use to us...we are not only smarter and more successful but better looking. (dont worry i'll soon be thinking the same as you in 10+ Years) I think I had a quote on here "back in my younger days": 20s in young to 30, 30 is young to 40s, 40s is young to 50's, 50's is young to 60 etc....and unless you're about 90 anything is "young."

What's next the University of Manitoba in college hockey?

No dice in the game, but I believe a Big Sky split has always been the "grand plan" one at FBS and one at FCS....so a divisional split only makes the likely hood more likely.

Sorry but avoiding Mankato State (and other less qualified schools) is the exact reason the NCHC was started.

One would have to think with UND not mentioning anything about cutting or delaying research spending (as far as I can tell) and NDSU basically only saying they'll delay research dollars (with barely mentioning anything else), they truly seem invested in increasing their research category (which means one would assume that's where all their discretionary spending is going) to get prepared for a hopeful FBS football conference invite.

oh yeah "delayed."

And while UND cuts sports and educational programs....NDSU so far has said we'll just not spend so much money on research?
