You didn't answer my question. Do you have any idea who Jim Scanlan is and what he has done in his life regarding hockey? Did you even read the post you are replying to? Did it say anything in there about a "clear breakaway"? The comedy in reading these game threads, especially the "recaps", could almost be enough to make a guy stay home instead of going to the games. This is good stuff!

So, since NHL hockey (or even hockey, period) is infinitely more popular in Canada than it is in the US, can it be inferred that Canadians are all blood-thirsty neanderthals that don't know better than to watch because the NHL is so poisoned with fighting? Or am I oversimplifying things? To me it seems to be a stretch to base the popularity level of hockey (in the US) on whether fighting is allowed or not. Didn't someone say earlier in this thread that debating fighting in hockey is akin to debating 80's rock and short hair/long hair?

We had something similar in our town this past summer. These guys were in pairs. VERY rude and VERY aggressive. After my wife told them no about 10 times, I finally made it home from work. As I was parking my truck, one of them asked for a "pop or a bottle of water or something". I don't know if he thought if he got into the house that he would be able to persuade us or what. I felt like he wanted to come in and case our house. Needless to say, they were escorted away pretty quickly. The sheriff's department was called before they even made it to their car.

I would like to see DYB write about these incidents. Give us details. Let us see for ourselves all of the hatred and abuse that is being pushed upon native americans on UND's campus. If things that she makes inferences to are indeed happening, they surely would be front page news. If things are indeed happening, maybe people that are supportive of the nickname would be more sympathetic to what she has to say, and may be moved to change their mind.
