Year 3 of BubbaBall: Not unexpectedly we're a couple of experiences (plays) and a couple players short of where we need to be. The course is in the right direction. Just like not making the playoff last year acted as a motivator, I expect the same from this experience.

Three problem plays: Defense: the blown coverage for the long 1st quarter TD pass Offense: calling a reverse that goes for -8 in UR territory (the dive was working; stay with it) Special Teams: Not calling "safe" or "make him punt it" or whatever -- just force the kick; don't touch the punter Everything happens for a reason. This team was supposed to learn something from this game that will be invaluable to them in the future. They're close, they're a couple players, a couple plays, a couple experiences away, but they're top 16 close, not top four close and that's what it takes to win championships.

The color of the Vikings uniforms was horrible last night. The helmets didn't match. Put the LA Rams helmet with that uniform and you'd never know the difference.

Looking at predictions, no one (not even Massey Ratings) did better than 6-2. Nobody picked San Diego; and everyone picked at least one other game wrong.

What's this team need? Leadership. Remember when I said 2-5-11-8. Two seniors. One is a backup goalie. The other wears a "C" but casually skates to the puck with four minutes to play in a tied must-win game, and proceeds to misplay it and get stripped in his own end of the ice. <-- That right there is the most frustrating thing I saw on the weekend. Where the < bleep! > is the accountability. Five juniors. One is the starting goalie (who honestly could use a break if nothing else for the mental reset). Pogo is hot and cold (not a sign of a leader, or maturity). Simonson and Olson are bottom six guys who haven't been consistent enough either. Poolman is trying to do it all by himself. I'll say it again: If this team is going anywhere, it's going to take a couple sophomores to step up, not so much on the ice, but in the room.
