    The NCAA only allows certain artificial surfaces to be used for soccer. Some (like the old, flat "magic carpet") allow the ball to roll forever like it's on asphalt. Others (like the new more grass-like rubber infill) are better in that they play much more like you're on natural grass.

    I smell what is there to be smelled, like it has: The more the defense is controlling the game, the more the offense is asked to become ball-control.

    Allow me to point out something that happened that may have been overlooked. Early in the fourth, UND kicks the FG to go up 27-0 with just under 14 to play. Crazy as it sounds, MSU is four TDs from a win and has 14 minutes. We've seen worse happen. But ... the defense 3 and outs them; MSU punts. What follows is noteworthy. UND starts on it's own 10 with 11:51 left and proceeds to go on a 90 yard drive for TD consuming 8:09 of the fourth quarter clock. That, friends, is how top teams close out games.

    Ah yes, UND Football, with the beloved North Dakota boy head coach, the stout-defense-minded defensive coordinator, and the offensive coordinator who couldn't call anything but a dive over left guard on first down and whose offense never quite satisfied or was asked to just become "ball custodians" with a lead. I'm thinking about Lennon, Schweigert, and Mussman. Who were you?
