  1. She really got the 6'3"+ guys to learn to skate (Ludwig, Commy at 6'4"). A true guru; a "tree" whisperer.
  2. Have to admit UVA (or is it UV? ) may have done better "April Fools" (watch to end) rebranding than UND did with actual. Go UV ... Rays!
  3. Bro, work with me, I'm trying, even if it's for other teams.
  4. (Plug your ears @geaux_sioux ) Tell me about your offensive line and I'll tell you about your season.
  5. Wish he hadn't inherited that trait from dad.
  6. < best Waylon Jennings impression voice > So if the Duke boys end up together are they going to rename Yost to "Hazzard" so they'll have ... The Dukes of ... nevermind. I'll show myself out.
  7. Repeating myself, I miss Nancy Burggraf. She turned Mike Commodore from looking like he was on double runners to a guy with an NCAA title and a Worlds gold ... oh, and a Stanley Cup. His last UND season pregame warm-up was edge-work that would've broken both of his ankles as a freshman, a pure tribute to Nancy. Team skating is not was it has been in the past. I believe it needs to be an off-season focus going into 2023-24. We have players with stunning puck skills and talent but in the end it is still a skating game. We need better first step burst, better three stride speed, and better edge strength. We could use a team skating revival. That's the team off-season homework assignment. Grades at Thanksgiving. https://www.amazon.com/Power-Stride-Nancy-Burggraf-Story/dp/1880654415
  8. Don't sleep on Komzak. He has two "unteachables": 6'4" and RH. His feet are acceptable but need some polish for the NCAA level. That is teachable. https://www.ncsasports.org/mens-ice-hockey-recruiting/british-columbia/north-vancouver/sutherland-secondary/tanner-komzak
  9. Tyler Duke (tOSU) jumped into the portal. Speculation is he's going to end up with his brother Dylan (UMich).
  10. One game makes me hope the next round is MIN/COL and Makar tries that on Kaprisov. There's this Ryan Reeves fellow that has no problem interjecting himself into such matters, and with great verve and panache. He'd have "conversation points" for Makar; I'd need popcorn.
  11. I saw over the weekend that Hobie Hedquist didn't finish a game and didn't play the next night. I'm hoping it was precautionary and not serious. But I also wonder what that did to thoughts about the roster. They're sitting 15F/7D/3G, so they need one more D but don't seem to be in any rush. They've (using Schlossman's lips) talked about a 16F as "Montgomery insurance". I sure would like to know what's up with HH to make sure the current plan still works.
  12. Ahhh-yup. Too many times the forwards figured out who is "their guy" right after the red light came on for the other guys. (MIN24 had the same malady for about 10 seconds of OT in a recent game. )
  13. That is the weakest play I've ever seen by Cale Makar. The hit was very late and unnecessary (far from play, no puck near) and dare I say cheap. Frankly, it should on that basis be a "matching" penalty: for the rest of COL/SEA if McCann is out Makar sits. If COL advances suspension over.
  14. Dare I say TBL looked like a team that was ... old and tired. Oh no. I believe TOR will finally get past the first round ... and then be autopsied alive by BOS. BOS is winning w/o 37 and 46. Imagine them (BOS) without a round of wear and play on the top two centers.
  15. Bona fide, electrified, six-car monorail.
  16. Run the apocalyptic nightmare scenario ... Someone would pay the buyout.
  17. An express branch of the campus shuttle monorail system (Union to Joe Black's) would solve that also. @MafiaMan and @Blackheart can explain.
  18. Shoot. I'm way younger than I thought by that standard.
  19. Alerus Center opened on Feb 10, 2001, and cost $80 million*. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alerus_Center *2001 dollars
  20. But you've said there's no hockey interest in the state yet go on stating its absence creates ticket demand for UND?
  21. L: @Boise, @SDSU, @UNI* *hangover game; I've said what I've said.
  22. 261,578 tickets sold at REA may disagree.
  23. UND is being unique with reason and purpose. The fan interest exists in Grand Forks because demographically GF is more "Canadian" or "NW Minnesotan" than any city in ND. Reason. So capture that interest. Purpose. Now if hockey wasn't averaging 11,400 per game over the course of 19 home games*, which pays its way, you may have a point. If you want a city that thinks like you, might I recommend Fargo or Lincoln. (Note I didn't say Brookings or Vermillion. They are still probably too BB minded for you. And not the Twin Cities because the Wild overshadow the Wolves much of the time, and when the Vikings are out and hockey is starting.) *Football drew 11067 (largest home crowd) against drivable SDSU. Shouldn't the football interested ND and SD fans been able to beat hockey's average?
  24. You're missing the point: It's OK to be different with reason or purpose. One place has aviation; another has pharmacy. Each exists with a purpose, to fill a need or interest.
  25. So what you're saying is someone should ... shut down pharmacy; start law and med. I'm pretty sure I'd find better logic if I went to the four corners of the state, to the coffee shops in Grenora or Rhame or Rutland or Hoople. And I think you're vastly underestimating the number of folks on scripts. I'm the fortunate minority not on a daily prescription drug.
