  1. Either way, Greene's still a natural-born sniper!
  2. I think it was McMahon's comment to Tim Hennessy after this game: Matt Greene? Oh he's a natural-born sniper.
  3. Finally someone gets the homonym.
  4. Those neck muscles probably saved Robbie from a more serious injury. Those neck muscles need the time to heal also, like you say.
  5. Back to Casey Moreland (and is it "C" or "K", I've seen both), look what I found in NAHL stats for this season: http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/player...78&seasonid=608
  6. I just dug up the answer to my question. Yes, Moreland played. Too bad it was for Oklahoma City of the CHL. If he were to join an NCAA program he'd have to sit out a season plus the number of games he played (2) before he'd be eligible.
  7. If we picked up another defenseman could Foyt or Marvin fill that role? Finally, somebody who I think sees it the way I do. Robbie Bina had major surgery. He had vertebrae in his neck fused. One wrong fall and the unspeakable could happen. The reports say they fused C6 and T1. Bones take a long time to heal. So let him heal, make sure he is "right", and then make the decisions. I wouldn't be surprised, if he ever plays again, if it's not until fall of 2006. (He has three years to complete his last two seasons of eligibility as of today so sitting a season to make sure all is right is no problem.) We almost have to. Putting all the practice load on two guys is too much. Obvious names would be Kasey Moreland or Chad Beiswenger. Did Kasey keep playing after Sioux Falls let him go? Like I mentioned before in either this or another thread, I really don't like "bulge" classes (10 to 13 guys) but given some of the unknowns out there right now (Bina, Kaip, the NHL CBA situation and potential departures it could spur) it looks like that has to happen.
  8. Along those lines, look where Stastny's stick is and what's in Stastny's left hand. That's from the In-Forum Frozen Four Photo Gallery.
  9. I thought calling obstruction and calling the rule book as written were already NCAA rules points of emphasis.
  10. The second and last lines you list are both all lefties on the lines.
  11. I'm concerned about the youth and lack of experience on defense if Matt Greene were to leave. Smaby, Radke, more than likely no Bina, three freshmen, and two guys who played more forward than defense last year (Foyt, Marvin) isn't exactly awe inspiring. The freshmen had better come as advertised. If Bina was healthy I think both PP units could run "traditional", with D and no forwards at the points. Radke would run one, Robbie the other. Now? You have to look at who can run a point and a power play. I'd guess Stafford. I wouldn't expect a freshman defenseman to have to take that on. The other thing I just noticed: Our forwards are very left-handed next year. Only Kaip, Zajac, Stafford, and freshman Miller are right shots, and Kaip's status is still up in the air. (On a related note, of the 2006 recruits Vandevelde is a left and Oshie a right.)
  12. Wednesday begins the summer signing period. It runs until August 1. If someone does sign Wednesday Hak could talk about them Wednesday night. This season was a lot of injuries and a short roster too often. But having a huge class (like nine seniors) isn't good either. I'd like balance, six or seven recruits per class. Then again, the unknown status of Robbie Bina makes you think you have to look around to see if there is a quality defenseman available, even though this class is already eight and sure to grow during the signing period. I sure hope Hak and Crew has this all figured out.
  13. One other idea (please note the sarcasm dripping from it): - If they aren't going to call a major, even when it is clear it is the appropriate call, why not just pull those useless sections out of the rulebook?
  14. My solution: - Make the "assistant referees" into "linesmen" again. They don't make the calls anyway so why have them there. - Have a game referee in the press box and connected wirelessly to the on-ice referee. Each has the power to make calls, but only one guy is making the calls (because that's all the fan will see blowing a whistle). - The press box referee would be a more senior official, a guy who can't keep up with the pace on skates any more but knows the game. - Did I mention that the press box referee would be wired so that everything he looks at during the game would be video recorded so he could be graded, and sanctioned, for not calling things?
  15. The first DU goal: Smaby made the right play trying to get a skate on it. There were two DU sticks waiting to pound the puck into the open net. He got a skate on it but to no avail. The second DU goal: He had the man tied up so the tip would go wide and it worked. How do we know? The tip hit Smaby! By bad fortune the puck went off Smaby and into the top of the net. Neither are a defenseman's fault. If he hadn't been there in either case, then blame someone.
  16. On the CBJ website? Who's their associate head coach again?
  17. However, you have also chosen to remove yourself from some things that are open to you. I notice you self-identify consistently as "Native" (senator, AI Programs, All Nations). Do other senators self-identify as a "Norwegian Senator on Student Government", etc? Does Dr. Kupchella self-identify as (insert his demographic here, I have no idea what it is, nor do I care or believe it matters) president of UND? Wasn't the issue that consuming alcohol near a tipi is completely inappropriate behavior (not saying it was done by people who knew that)? And the debris (cans) nearby (or was it in) was inappropriate as well. Putting it at tailgating is putting it in an environment where alcohol is consumed and the chance for a misplaced or strewn can is there as well. I would think it would be wiser to not put the tipi into such an environment if the chance for a mistake by someone unaware exists.
  18. And the D/L/Nakota people do claim it when it is a French or Ojibwe word? How does that work?
  19. You already can today. You are chosing not to. You have self-segregated. And it's a shame. Wasn't there a problem not that long ago with inappropriate behavior in/near a tipi? The concept you propose seems not far off from the same.
  20. Are all Irish people insulted when something similar to that is tossed Notre Dame's way? Are all Germanic peoples insulted when "Vandals suck" is tossed U of Idaho's way? Vandal -- a member of the Germanic people ... (www.cogsci.princeton.edu/cgi-bin/webwn) People who say things like that self-identify as poor fans (cheer for your team, not against the other). You can't fix them until they identify themselves.
  21. Can someone explain to me how the D/L/Nakota people "own" a word, much less a word that is derived from French and Ojibwe origins?
  22. That's no poll. The methodology is scientifically accepted practice for surveys done by a nationally respected survey agency, Peter Harris Research Group, Inc. (They put their name and reputation on it.) That wasn't a survey in the hallway.
  23. Reasons for keeping? Because the majority of Native Americans say it should not change.
