  1. Eastern ND/NW Minnesota try 970 AM WDAY. I sure hope Dr. Kupchella rolls the quote below out again.
  2. Please provide quote. Thank you.
  3. Just hanging this reference thread here to not lose track of it: http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5585
  4. There is DII mens and womens lax. It't be hockey and lax.
  5. Come on now ....
  6. Nah, mens lacrosse and womens soccer after the FieldTurf is installed in The Al.
  7. I voted "Other" to the first question so I guess I'm obliged to explain. The question was, "MidCon Choices for Membership on Tuesday?" I picked "other" because of the word "choices" in the question. I believe the Mid-Con will only go so far as to declare various "campus visits" and then set a selection date sometime within the next four months.
  8. It gets stranger (like you'd expect less from the NCAA). The NCAA writes its own mens lacrosse rulebook. It uses US Lacrosse's rulebook for the womens NCAA game. http://www1.ncaa.org/eprise/main/playingru...;PreviewState=0 More interesting? US Lax didn't mandate 'protective eyewear' for the womens game until 2005.
  9. You're allowed to move up two sports, one mens, one womens, and the sport can not be FB or BB. Which eligible to move up mens sport is most ready for a move up? Swimming and Diving. Sorry but Golf, Cross-Country, T&F, and Baseball just aren't there. I'm with 'star2city' on the thoughts of Golf and Baseball in DI. Which eligible to move up womens sport is most ready for a move up? That's a tougher call. The womens S&D team is (relatively) weaker than the mens. Soccer and Volleyball aren't there but could probably get there just as fast as S&D could. Golf, CC, Track, Softball, and Tennis would take even more time.
  10. Mr. Taylor's comments were a weak-at-best attempt to sell NDSU's academics. It flopped (considering all I have to do to reply is say "Cinque"). Come on Gene, you have better. Bring that next time instead. Give all of us here something more to work with next time.
  11. In all honesty, Grand Valley would be fairly competitive in the (DI-A) MAC right now.
  12. Pretty much bonkers par usual. Evidence: March 24, 2006 (Ralph Engelstad Arena) Holy Cross 4 Minnesota 3 (OT) North Dakota 5 Michigan 1 March 25, 2006 (Ralph Engelstad Arena) North Dakota 5 Holy Cross 2 I doubt the arena has ever been louder than during those North Dakota games, and there was no alcohol (NCAA tourney site).
  13. From the link above: The stealth of the snake as a great blessing in overcoming adversaries is a blessing and held in high esteem. Slightly different view of snake from the standard Judeo-Christian dogma, eh? Kind of like, " ... I thought about the fact that the symbol of a blessing to one person may be misconstrued as an insult to another."
  14. I keep seeing a top four (in some order) of Toews, Kessel, Staal, and Johnson. Given http://www.uscho.com/news/id,12633/MockDraftTheTopTen.html , if STL needs offense, why take Johnson, a defenseman? STL should, by my estimation, shop that #1 overall around to PIT and CHI and WAS and see who really does have their sights set on a particular forward: force their hands. STL could end up no worse than picking #4 and would probably get another low-round pick or maybe some cash. Who knows, if they really do want Johnson and end up picking 4th (trade with WAS), he could still be there.
  15. Student-athletes in a bar? The NCAA doesn't have time to investigate all of those, but it's fun to poke just the same. Tickets exchanging hands in some sort of quid-pro-quo, that just might catch the NCAA's attention.
  16. First or second season of REA being open, if memory serves.
  17. Considering the City of Fargo, not NDSU, owns Farogdome, that was today's "pot and kettle" moment.
  18. I couldn't decide how to respond, so, it's "Reader's Choice!": A) It's easy to figure out: There's do it first; there's do it right. or B) Is indoor waterskiing an NCAA DI championship sport? I hear the 'SU venue has been prepped a couple of times.
  19. I believe that most of the cards are already on the table: - UNO has talked about the MIAA in the past. That would be much better travel for them. - SCSU has already talked to the NSIC. I believe MSU-Mankato will follow them in any decision. - UM-Duluth is not that far removed from being in the NSIC - Augustana (private) isn't that wealthy. MIAC or NSIC? - USD will probably try to make a go of it in DI. That, or maybe they tag along with UNO.
  20. Because those are the rules. The men propel the ball much harder; and, much more contact and use of the crosse to dislodge the ball is allowed in the mens game, especially up high. In the womens game, getting any part of your crosse within a foot (?) of an opponent's head is a penalty. And they call it. However, it's my expectation that you'll see helmets (insurance issues) in the womens NCAA game sooner rather than later. The precedent for women in helmets in the NCAA was already set by hockey and softball. (I'm surprised WLax has held out this long.)
  21. What's this noise I hear about UND going DI? I believe that's the first "if" in the scenario talked about here.
  22. Uh-uh. No. Not even a good try. DI is DI is DI, or you'll have to discount any sniff of a wrestling title because fewer than 100 schools wrestle at the DI level, right?
  23. It was taboo when NDSU was a DII and UND was a DI hockey playing DI. Can we talk about DI championships now?
  24. Having LTC Buning there yesterday would have looked good for the cameras, but, given this I believe he is in New Orleans, and quite appropriately.
  25. Now, the interview with Kupchella, was that a transcription or a recap?
