  1. DI-A, like Rutgers, requires 16*. * See Figure 20-1, or Section 20.9.6.1, of the 2004-05 DI Manual.
  2. If they advance to St. Louis, I doubt they'd even let him exit the Savvis Center.
  3. I believe there's a George Carlin one-liner about Florida ---> Everything's in the 80s: the temps, the ages, the IQs.
  4. What's Eric paying that guy?
  5. The AP story on the search for an intermim chancellor has some interesting names .... A couple of UND faculty folks. Isn't that intentionally skirting the open meetings law? Do tigers change their stripes?
  6. Potts is so terrible and so inept, they're keeping him on at full salary as an advisor.
  7. "The position is so important the game should be renamed 'Goalie'." -- (paraphrased from Dean Blais) Me. Phil Lamoureux.
  8. Why do you ask questions that you already know the answer to? The NCAA (prime sponsor: Pontiac) is the home of "Do as I say, not as I do."
  9. Home is hard to beat. The silver lining is that it's never bad to have a friend in a hockey factory like the Hounds have.
  10. Myles "Komrad Catalyst" Brand really is on a power trip. (Now read the signature line.)
  11. Sioux-cia, HockeyMom, Each of you say five "Our Parise" and five "Hail Tony (Hrkac)" and continue to regularly attend the Church of Sioux Hockey. Your sins are forgiven. Go in peace.
  12. You choose your response: (a) Gravy over the top or on the side? or (b) Presto! You're a hot beef sandwich! PS - I'm with PCM on the importance of this. This is rattling not just through ND SBoHE but the Governor's and AG's offices and the Legislative leadership. This is going to play through the coming legislative session and beyond (think: election time).
  13. That's where I fall in this: If the school wants to pay the price of being DI-A (and look at the link above for the additional requirements from DI-AA to DI-A), why should "number of people in seats" even matter? This is about "student-athlete opportunities", right NCAA? If the school offers the grants to the athletes that's all that matters, right NCAA? Worrying about "attendance" or "ticket sales" makes it seem like a professional league, doesn't it NCAA?
  14. More information: From April 29, 2005: I underlined some key words and tricky phrases in there. And what does all of that mean in NCAA speak? (See the section on "Attendance Requirements".) And, here's the NCAA's 2005 reported DI-A attendance numbers (well, the bottom 20 at least):
  15. There's one other detail lost in this. The 15000 isn't just seats it's (from the 2004-2005 DI manual): I believe the NCAA has revisited this since then. I'll look.
  16. Someone needs to tell these folks: "how you'd like the world to be" != "realities of the world"
  17. If you're doing good things folks will always try to get your people. When they don't want your staff is when you worry. So who's prime to replace him? Why'd the words "Larimore" and "Crookston" just jump to mind?
  18. Patience, lad, patience; First you talk about what you'd like to do; then you see if it's possible; then you raise the funds and do it. UND has merely taken that first step.
  19. There is no "request" to move to DI: You state your intention. You follow the procedure. You "do the time." You're DI. PS - Myles is off my "A"-list.
  20. Folks, the sides are negotiating: Kessel clearly weakened his position at one point by saying he'd like to go pro. To restrengthen it he (someone) leaked to "Grandpa Sid" that he'd be back. Now there are reports the Bruins are still talking about signing him. Clearly, negotiations and posturing are on-going. I believe guys will be back when I see them in a jersey, on the ice, in a game. (That goes for them all.) However, I'm with "dagies" on one point: I'd love to have Kessel's (rather gone pro) attitude in the Gopher room all year.
  21. It's so hard for me to keep all these straight: Does Hennen's "story" align with Paulson's "story", Chapman's "story", Hoeven's "story", the NDSU Development Foundation's "story", Ritchie Smith's "story", or the Attorney General's official findings and opinion report?
  22. From the Attachments to the DI Report: I'll agree with you on the "up" but I'd think you could add south end seating if you moved the south wall. Some creative engineering and it'd be possible I'd think.
