  1. Since we seem to have adopted the bad lounge act genre: F-f-f-f-f-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-l-l-l-l-l-ings, whoa, whoa, whoa, f-f-f-f-f-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-l-l-l-l-l-ings ...
  2. Might I recommend you go back to about post 115 and start in there. Doing so you'll see that folks are not talking about these things off the cuff but do understand the impacts and ramifications (on people, on programs, on budgets). Yes, in a perfect world every school could offer every sport to every body. But it's not a perfect world, and it's very dynamic. As the dynamics change so too must people, programs, and budgets. No, it's not perfect, but it is reality and we all must live in that. Why? We don't have infinite resources. We must maximize what we do have.
  3. Why would I downgrade from what I have?

    Trivia ?

Yeah, but he's still only about 5'5".
  5. If Syracuse feels like it can't compete in M/W swimming .... (gulp) ....
  6. I've heard too many stories about arenas and hockey teams in Fargo to believe the words until I see the ice and players. I'm not saying I hope they fail; I'm saying I need to see the results and not just words before I'm believing it all. Call it healthy skepticism (after "Fargo Arena" I and II).
  7. A year from today, three years from today: How many scholarships will USD have to work with? How many will Montana State have after APR reductions? How many will North Dakota have? It kind of makes you wonder which really is the best job right now.
  8. Yeah, and the financing is done and construction has started on UP Center too.
  9. Isn't Fargo supposed to be getting a USHL franchise soon ....
  10. NBC: Lacrosse on the cusp of becoming next big NCAA sport I've said it. I'll say it again: It's coming. Get out front.
  11. In Fargo it's not about feeling good about what you're doing and why you're doing it; in Fargo it's all about, well, this sums it up:
  12. I wonder who the bold part was aimed at ....
  13. He wouldn't ask how many times, 'cause it only takes once. He'd ask, "Forwards or backwards?" (Reference to playing forward or defense.)
  14. Famous Dave's is to real barbecue what Olive Garden is to real Italian and Paradiso is to real Mexican.
  15. Dave's or Roadhouse: Grand Forks got the better with Texas Roadhouse.

    Trivia ?

    Diggler got it. Ask away.
  17. Uh, no. But I do believe he was brought in to restore Minnesota Gopher football. And I do believe Maturi, the other piece of the scheduling puzzle you mention, brought him in to do it. The reigning BCS Champion (and the runner-up) played zero, no, FCS/DI-AA schools in 2006. Want BCS credibility? You must have the schedule that shows it. Having FCS/DI-AA schools on it takes away from it. Brewster, and Maturi, know it.

    Trivia ?

My next question: When new REA opened in 2001 each WCHA team had a banner on the south end above the club room. (They still each do.) One of the school names was horribly misspelled and has since been corrected. Reproduce that misspelling and you'll have answered the question.

    Trivia ?

Ulmer got called 8 seconds into the game. At 58 seconds into the game Mark Rycroft hit Jeff Panzer, who'd perfectly stationed himself along the boards in the northeast corner of old REA in a manner that he was an irresistable checking from behind target. Silly Rycroft couldn't resist.
  20. First time I've seen that name. The others really held no surprises.
  21. Fargo has the regional television and other media outlets and a very high level of shall we politely say "assuredness of itself" (to a fault in my opinion) that it will repeat to anyone anywhere. Given that, the pattern flows forth both positively, and unfortunately unnecessarily negatively (for some believe they can build themselves up by tearing others down). The reality that some choose this tact to tear down Grand Forks actually reflects worse upon themselves and their city. Grand Forks is a humble (and overquiet about itself to a fault) and hidden gem on the northern frontier. The point "ScottM" raises about comparable cities in the south or northeast is dead on.
  22. Gene Taylor didn't come off very professionally in his criticisms of Brewster (for answering the "schedule the Bison" questions honestly) on KFGO on Wednesday. Taylor commented that this wasn't the time and place for those honest answers. I'd argue, no, Gene, it was. Fargo media asked. Brewster, trying to gain credibility with his constituency, had to answer them at that time and in the manner he did if that is going to be truth and reality for his program. That it doesn't align with your (Taylor's) and NDSU's agenda isn't Brewster's problem. If someone's to blame for bringing it up blame the lather you've whipped Fargo media into over the subject. But don't blame Brewster for being honest.

    Trivia ?

OK, smart boy .... Yes, a make-up call was made shortly after the ticky-tacky call against Jason Ulmer. Who for DU was called, who of the Sioux did he hit, and in which corner (compass direction) of old REA's rink was the hit?
  24. The Sicatoka

    Trivia ?

You're all wimps! In a WCHA home first round playoff series, on a Friday, UND won 4-0 over DU, but Jason Ulmer got a DQ for checking from behind. In Saturday's Game 2, without Jason Ulmer, UND lost to DU 2-1 to force a third game. On Sunday, March 12, 2000, Jason Ulmer, coming off a one-game suspension, put up a 3 goal, 3 assist, 6 point, performance in a 9-4 victory to help UND move on to the WCHA Final Five and a Broadmoor Trophy. You'll get no easier question next time. Give me a while to think.
