  1. Why would that be bad? Florida and Florida State are in two different. Each have great conference rivals and an awesome non-conference game (spelled: gate revenues) each year automatically in the schedule. Iowa and Iowa State, Colorado and CSU, Utah and Utah State, UNM and NMSU ....
  2. Dang. I knew we should have had the "Pride of the North" Band and the cheer team at the press conference. I'm sure UND has done none of that in the mean time. You make an assumption in there. Let me clear it up: Right time for NDSU != Right time for UND All the hay isn't in the barn (see, I'm bilingual, NDSU and UND) on that subject yet. Let's chat in a couple years.
  3. Higher: Born Apr 21 1965 -- Carman, Manitoba
  4. It's been hard work and tough choices to get UND into alignment under proportionality criteria. Having done that work, no, going to NDSU's proportionality numbers at UND now would not be acceptable (because it would be backtracking on what's already been done). That's not a slight to NDSU in any way and what they're choosing to do; that's the reality that UND is working in with what they've done.
  5. Thanks for your input. Have you read all of UND's report, and NDSU's Carr and CSL reports, and SDSU's Carr report?

  7. Yes, they, UND, took action to comply with Federal law via proportionality. It appears SDSU has done the same. Other schools have plans to get compliant down the road after their situations become more clear. I'm glad those others have a plan; but, I'm more glad UND has taken the difficult actions and is compliant already because all it takes is one person to file a Title IX based suit to cause a lot of best laid plans to be run awry.
  8. Yes, Jordy Christian is an SCSU recruit, but he's also a forward. Now Beau Christian is a goaltender, and is uncommitted to any college to my knowledge. PS - To whom do I send my bill? "sports@forumcomm.com"?
  9. No, that day that pro roster will be like every other, namely, featuring an alumnus of the University of North Dakota. And as a weak attempt to steer this back to subject, will Potts be the GM and Chapman the head coach of the team? And how long after that will Chapman have Potts resigning and thus have both jobs?
  10. Whew! Now I'm really glad I didn't put the 5-spot down on Roebuck.
  11. Whew! I'm glad you posted that. I was about to bet $5 that it was Gene Roebuck.
  12. Only PCM does that, but it's a required part of the 'sudo'-reporter standard operating procedure. ???
  13. That's kinda like ....
  14. From the link: From NDSU's Carr Report: UND is consciously and actively looking to meet the "proportionality" aspect of Title IX rather than an aspect (interests and abilities) that consultants have recommended to other folks to step away from.
  15. Not as long as they're paying off the bonds on The Betty, no. Just the same, I like the "safety net" of the Engelstad Family Trust. ???
  16. Question: Who owns Ralph Engelstad Arena? Answer: Arena Holdings Charitable, LLC, an umbrella for three corporations that will own and manage the arena. The new organization is designed to run the arena, with profits donated to the university, while ensuring that the arena would not become a liability for UND were profits to disappear. Arena Holdings Charitable is a tax-exempt organization, created to support UND athletics. This limited liability company has two arms. The first is UND Sports Facilities Inc., which will act as owner of the arena complex. This group is run by a board appointed by the UND president. Currently, this board is comprised of UND President Emeritus Tom Clifford, former UND Foundation CEO Earl Strinden and Aron Anderson, a retiree who worked with the UND Alumni Association and the Lakota State Bank. The second arm is UND Arena Services Inc., which will oversee the management of the arena.
  17. Let's not "over-think" this folks, does hockey help UND's quest for a conference: Yes, in that basketball and volleyball have premier facilities to host games and/or conference tournaments. No, in that hockey doesn't mean much to schools that don't play the sport, but it's not a negative either. Net result: Facilities matter --> Positive. Now, let's do the overthink: Does hockey help UND in a way yet to be mentioned here, namely, the ability to "trade" non-conference hockey games for (insert other sport here) non-conference games? Yes. For example, try this notion: Dear UConn, we'll play your fledgeling DI hockey program at your place (or place of choosing for gate) if you come play WBB here (trade a gate for a gate).
  18. Question: Has anyone seen Kupchella in a bouncy-giddy-rah-rah mode ever (as some seem to believe is a requirement for a DI move)? The man redefines 'stoic'. Even his 'outraged' responses to the NCAA were made in a well-written, thoughtful, measured manner (a letter).
  19. Aside from (a) hiring a consultant and not following their recommendations v. doing an internal study, and (b) four years of clock time, how are the two paths (UND compared to NDSU) different?
  20. The final radio contract got lost in land of DI announcements/NCAA lawsuits/Parise goes/Toews staying-going. The quick summary: Nothing changes. http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/news/r...RELEASE_ID=4969 UND men
  21. XIV of XIV is available.
  22. A possible two-year interim chancellor? Isn't that an oxymoron considering the last regular chancellor only lasted two years? Names on the list of nine for interim chancellor: Lee Vickers, president of Dickinson State University Charles Cheney, the former superintendent of West Fargo's public schools W. Jeremy Davis, a former dean of the University of North Dakota's law school Eddie Dunn, vice chancellor for strategic planning in the NDUS main office in Bismarck Phil Harmeson, assistant to the president of the University of North Dakota Paul Markel, a psychology professor at Minot State University James Schobel, a former president of Mayville State University Richard Tschider, a retired president of St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck Earl Strinden, former director of UND's alumni association and a former ND House Republican majority leader;
  23. Shhhh .... I'm on the phone with John Q ..... So I haven't downloaded 2006-07 yet.
