  1. The "big hit" was already suffered by KO and the league when Hirsch left the Gophers (or did the Gophers leave Hirsch). (Look at KO's numbers with and without Hirsch on the team.)
  2. Water isn't a weapon. Actually it helps things grow. Fertilizer isn't a weapon. Actually it helps things grow. Diesel fuel isn't a weapon. It helps farmers help things grow. Yet Tim McVeigh used fertilizer and diesel fuel to kill people. Ban fertilizer. Ban diesel fuel. Or ban the MeVeighs and Chos.
  3. I bet VaTech had a "no firearms on campus" policy.
  4. Are we looking just murder or the total of all violent crime?
  5. I'm reading this as Judge Jahnke reiterating his desire for an out of court settlement. http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/i...mp;section=News
  6. We have cheerleaders?
  7. Is the NCAA sure it really wants to do that? "Hostile and abusive" is not "fighting words". You can only censor "fighting words". Like Judge Jahnke said in the temporary injunction:
  8. Remember the attack at Appalachian School of Law? Three dead. The gunman wrestled down and stopped by three others. End of story, right? That's what the media said ... (cue Paul Harvey and ... the rest of the story) Turns out two of the three "wrestlers" went to their vehicles, got private weapons, and then subdued the attacker. How many knew that (obviously unimportant to the media) detail.
  9. Quite simply "April 20". (Put it or "4/20" into a search engine and see what pops.) - the cannabis culture - Columbine - Hitler's birthday It's the confluence of a whole set of freaky sub-cultures.
  10. One need only look at England's experience regarding disarming citizens and the effect on violent crime. How bad has it gotten over there?
  11. The only speech that can be censored is "fighting words". As long as Sioux Falls or Sioux City exist, or as long as (tribally owned) Sioux Industries operates, or as long as the Standing Rock Sioux call themselves Sioux, Sioux can not be claimed as a "fighting word" (as it consistently does not "incite an immediate violent response").
  12. Given that knowledge and background (that both have the right to speech), which is more dangerous: - allowing one group to speak (using the same word the "harmed" use) as they have for many years, or - allowing another group to shut the first group up. Tell me again: Which group is trying to take speech away from the other?
  13. What are you really more afraid of here: People spending their private dollars as they choose, or UND winning this case.
  14. The 'ticket price' "Irish" mentioned isn't really the ticket price*, but the FSC membership price, going up for that seat. Fighting Sioux Club membership dollars go for scholarships. The cost of a scholarship is based on tuition. Rising tuition --> Rising scholarship costs --> Increased FSC costs (reflected when you get a season ticket bill). It doesn't get much simpler than that. * Posted season ticket prices remain unchanged over the past few years. However, the cost of FSC membership to keep seats has gone up. First it was having to join Century club ($110) to hold two seats in the upper deck when previously FSC membership was not required for seats up there (i.e. Sections 303, 306). Now it's affecting the FSC member levels between Century and Coaches that have seats in the lower bowl (see: Irish's post).
  15. Two Questions: First Are they converting the lower bowl to all Coaches Club level? Or is this a tactical move to get students more of the lower bowl? Next What was tuition in 2001-2002? What is it today? I really don't know, but I do suspect you'll find "linkage" between that and prices.
  16. What would you need to see to see that? That seems like "Catch-22": You won't be assured you'll be successful until you try, but you won't try until you're successful.
  17. Help me out here. When was that? I must have missed it. (My seat price hasn't changed recently.) Was that only for certain levels of FSC?
  18. Or was that The Bridge. "Back in the day" (of some of us) Whitey's, The Bridge, and The Antique were the downtown trifecta.
  19. From jimdahl's link: From the Attachments file of UND's DI Report (from spring of 2006), page 1, under "Needs": Track (indoor) - $8 million Track (outdoor) - $1 million Football practice - $ 16 million Soccer - $1 million. Add that up and amazingly you get .... $26 million. From the same page of the same report, under "Wants": Football Arena upgrades - $1.5 million Baseball - $2.5 million Softball - $1.5 million Tennis - $5 million Golf - $2.5 million Admin Facilities - $3 million Swimming - $10 million Add that up and it's ... $26 million.
  20. Missed the "Gordie Howe Hat Trick" by that much ....
  21. Do that and you'll miss your show ....
  22. To stay in a hole in the ground after they assume room temperature, but not otherwise.
  23. So whatt ya gonna do? Kick back, slurp down some nasty Keystone brew (assuming you're not in UND Housing, because that's dry), and enjoy the day? I hope some "Hogan's Heroes" re-runs are on for you. I loved that show: Col Klink: Sch-h-h-hu-u-u-ultz! Sergeant: Herr Comandant! Just don't be watching Scot log tossing (whatever that's called) on ESPN 294. Go for the spelling bee on ESPN 423.
  24. " ... crack that whip! ... "
  25. Hey, they didn't cancel them! They just had to move them to Mankato. At least there's something (albeit a car show) at The Al this weekend.
