  1. NDSU's new band uniforms will make them a perennial powerhouse. (Some of you are laughing hysterically right now; the rest of you don't read the USCHO board.)
  2. No, that'd "offend" the leftist (communist) crowd on campus.
  3. They'll be at "GoCavalry.com" won't they.
  4. Miller's offensive skills are line-up worthy. Are Miller's defensive skills (including and namely physical play along the boards)? That, friends, is the question. I figure Marto and LaPoint will "back and forth" the 6th defensive spot all season (unless the unspeakable happens and both are in the line-up). I picked Marto to play in GF vs. a more physical MSU and then LaPoint to play against a smaller BC on the road (with Marto then playing a more physical Northeastern the next night). Why do I figure all of that? Next year we'll most likely not have Bina (senior), Finley, and Chorney and both (Marto, LaPoint) need to be ready to be a top 4 defense skater. That's my guess.
  5. Will they be replacing "M-i-n-n-e-s-o-t-a, ... Go Gophers!" with "H-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-s ... Play Sem'noles"?
  6. A president of an academic and research institution putting academics, research, and long-term funding for those (endowments) ahead of athletics on his priority list? What is the man thinking?
  7. Yup, and they all report to VPs or Deans, not the president (as the NCAA would have).
  8. This is not aimed at you "mksioux" but to the general audience (you just happened to bring it up): This "president should run athletics" mindset (perpetuated by the NCAA no less) is hokum in my opinion. Yes, athletics is very public, but it's one aspect of a major university. Why should the president "more run" directly athletics moreso than medicine, law, art & sciences, engineering, research, or any other division? Good leaders delegate. If athletics at a university, any university, requires a "full-time president" maybe we should shut down the rest of the university and call college athletics what it is in that model: professional, with a CEO.
  9. What's better than a goalie fight? Band fight!
  10. http://www.ndus.edu/policies/human-resourc...olicy.asp?id=21
  11. Folks, first things first. The contract law matter (Executive Committee overstepping) has to be put to bed. If not, the Executive Committee will keep going as if it's some sort of monarchy. Things like this would be next. After that UND (OK, the ND SBoHE) is in the position of power and gets to institute policy of its own volition: Choice of action, not path of reaction. As I've said for quite a while: We'll know the exact instant the "Fighting Sioux" moniker is a net negative. That's the instant it'll change. Not before.
  12. Since we're in random predictions mode, I expect Hak to put out a more physical line-up against Sparty: Davidson, Forney, Miller, and LaPoint sit. Against the faster BC next week Miller and LaPoint play.
  13. Courtesy UND.edu: I'd rather be in the pink, than yellow.
  14. Buning is on a four week leave of absence that began about September 16.
  15. Some folks need to read my signature.
  16. Given the above, and this old post, I wonder who the"source"'s source is.
  17. So who won?
  18. I'd much rather be in the pink, than yellow.
  19. Winona State at 7? Is that the same Winona State that barely survived at MSU-Moorhead Saturday? Is that the same Winona State that let the Dragon QB re-write a bunch of Dragon passing records (previously held by Loud Eddie Schultz)? The Dragons had a sizable 4th quarter lead, let it slip away, and then hit an upright (no good) on the potential GW FG as time expired. Winona State escaped. At 7?
  20. Why is there suddenly a mountain lion season in ND? Because there are mountain lions. Why are there mountain lions? Because there is food. What food? Rats with hooves. I like ScottM's notion: I'm pro-mountain lion/cougar/puma/American jaguar.
  21. In the same vein as what "dagies" posted last week:
  22. Ah yes, the "white privilege" canard. I've wondered where that's been.
  23. The hockey gods told him to reach his full destiny this season he had to humble himself and give up one really stinky goal. Better to get it over with in an exhibition.
  24. Don't people complain college athletics is too much like a business? Why not run like one?
  25. You mean this guy's uncle's rip-off of a 30-plus-year-old "Curtain" defense?
