I'll start with the answer: Simple Math. Now the question: Where are the slots in on the roster? The only known openings are Kaip, Radke, and now Oshie. Hextall was supposed to come in fall 2007 but injury prevented that. (Davidson filled that slot.) Hextall's almost assuredly here fall 2008. Gregoire is coming off a USHL PotY season. That seems obvious. But then you have some open questions: - Mario Lamoureux is 20 this fall; Does he play another USHL season? - David Toews fell in the draft rankings; What happened there? Is the knee a problem? Does he need a USHL season? - Mike Cichy couldn't break the top 25 in USHL scoring; Is he ready for the WCHA? - Brett Bruneteau was left unprotected by his USHL team; Do they know he won't be in the USHL next season? Hakstol (and Blais and Gasparini before that) seem to run with 15 forwards on the roster. Only 3 are gone (as of now). How can some of you have all of these players all coming in this fall (unless some more slots open up).

See ya later JQP. Paulsen rejected for 2nd term on higher ed board

I've seen that speculation somewhere, .... now where was it. Oh, here it is. [/smirk]

The value of the dollar has ______ against other currencies in recent days. Thus, the number of dollars it takes to buy an ounce of gold, or a barrel of oil, has shot rapidly _____. Want to run on gas? Build the refineries. We have the oil in Alaska. Want to run electric cars instead? Wyoming has more uranium than Saudi Arabia has oil. But you can't build a refinery or a nuclear plant. But oh will people whine when their car has to be parked or the lights don't come on.

I have it more like 2.4.

The etymology of "warrior" is Old French (just like Sioux derives from French). "Indians" are people from Mumbai or Calcutta. Don't mess with the French or Indians. Those are their words. Find something else to call yourself, like Lakota or akicita.

And you thought I was kidding here and here.

South, toward Missouri. And in closing, ladies, really: Mercedes? Porsche? Grace. Space. Race. Meow. (purr)

Ah, good to see another stay-at-home "natural born sniper" ala Matt Greene. :D

Nine (but I cheated). I'd move those baseball resources to a mens sport that we have suitable facilities for already, have decent chances to be nationally competitive, and that could draw more people to games (gate revenues). Yeah, it doesn't make me popular with the baseball crowd, but until global warming really kicks in or UND gets a baseball dome, climate is an issue.

No, actually, he's buried. It's just that some just can't let a man like the rest of us, with deeds both wise and foolish, rest in peace.
-
The only thing more toxic upon all parties involved? Grandstanding elitism. Whups.
-
You've just rattled off all of the reasons why a Bison fan wouldn't want to see lax at UND.

Ya-know, the best part of this will be that it's a self-inflicted wound: On the tribes, By the tribes. The tribal governments? They're exposing what kind of neighbors they really are. Neighbors deal with neighbors in kind. (Remember that at the next Legislative session.) Leigh Jeanotte and that cadre? They're kicking their only soapbox out from under themselves. Can you say "one trick pony" (and it just came up lame). Good luck, Leigh, jumping ahead of any other department on President Kupchella's or Kelley's (or any future) schedule to voice your issues. You'll just be "next in line" just like everyone else. And the rest of us get to sit back, smirk, and say, "You wanted 'equal.' It's not our fault it's the opposite direction from what you thought it was."

Ralph Engelstad was born in 1930. WWII ran from 1939 to 1945. A poor (at the time) 9 to 15 years old kid from Thief River Falls, MN, was tell me what again ....

That double standard bothers me (and I'm sure it bothers TRIOUXPER also).

Mussman cut him loose and he's got a long list to deal with down at the court house. T'ain't much more to say. The question that should be asked is: Why was none of this in the public eye before it got to this?

Really? Show me where the NDHSAA sponsors softball: http://www.ndhsaa.com/athletics/index.htm (Hint: You can't because ND schools play it as a club, non-NDHSAA, sport.)

It sure is. But comes the rub: I choose to see the Vandal tribal name used as anything other than the root word of "vandalism" as a positive, even if it's a moniker of a sports team. I choose to not be offended by Idaho's Vandals.
-
Seems fair, so .... Go Vandals! (See, it's being done onto me.)

At risk of repeating myself ... See posts 17, 18, and 21 in the link. It's clear that 2007-08 should not count as a year of competition for Forney. By my understanding of the rule book, he'd be coming back this fall as a sophomore.

For a while, yes, thus ....

Handcuff the defense? No. But they are being given too many liberties in the WCHA. My two simplest examples (from the NCAA 2006-2008 rulebook): Holding SECTION 24. A player shall not hold or grab an opponent in any manner (stick, hand, etc.). PENALTY
