Apparently beating Michigan is contagious.

Student fees to support athletics are going up. Part of that deal (can someone find it?) was no direct charge to go to events (except mens hockey). I'd say the students paid their part of the move.

A while back I posted that negotiations were underway. A couple skeptics asked me if I was "sure" via PMs. Like my post said, I wasn't going to say more then. Now, however .... Yeah, pretty sure.

Dahl is the fourth-string, or backup-backup-backup, safety is he not? What's belittling about that? That a fourth-stinger gets more attention than a starter is pitiful. Then again, Eslinger, a drafted Gopher, getting cut got more attention too. Again, pitiful.

Too bad the regional news is facinated more with a NY Giants practice squad backup-backup-backup safety instead of a starter on the Broncos. (shakes head in disgust)

You're right. One isn't directly tied to the other. However, my willingness to make an extra effort to help out a person or group directly relates to their willingness to show good will back toward me. Expect no further or future heroic efforts is the simple message. And it most likely wouldn't just be me.

Rumor has it that Diggler does the same thing.

No, we run the courts until we prove the NCAA breeched contract. Don't kid yourselves, as much as the PC group of university presidents that triggered all of this loves what the NCAA is doing to us they also fear that they could be next and need someone to reign in Myles and the Executive Committee going outside of the stated rules of the NCAA constitution. Get the breech victory in hand. Then, with that victory in hand, make "last call" to the tribes. Part of last call would be a friendly view of their future as stated here. That's not a threat (because there's no direct action), it's simple reality in the "cause de jour" world of PC politics and academic zealotism. If they don't want us, we don't need them, and the hastles that come with (like this lawsuit).

Not a good weekend for Gophers.

Not for the next four years if you want to go up.

At the half: Bowling Green 21 Minnesota 0

Well that ranking (Massey) had WWU (if they'd be DI-AA at the time) at about 38 at the end of last season and UCD at 12. WWU just beat UCD. So which is it? Like Herd says, a translated (because of different levels) rankings 40-ish can beat a rankings top 10-er, or not. Do we believe the rankings, or not? Or just selectively to make one's case? PS - "second-tier" .... ouch.

App State is very good and proved it today. However, I'm torn by this. I see FBS (DI-A) slipping as showboating and big hits are more important than fundamentals and wrapping up tackles. This to me shows how some of the mighty are slipping. Then again, torn still, ... Do we talk about this weekend's performances of Youngstown State, FIU, Weber State, Western Kentucky, SoCar State, Northeastern, ... College football is becoming teams that play the game the right way and teams that spend more time worrying about all wrong things. App State played it the right way today. Michigan, not so much. PS - DII champ GVSU ended last season ranked higher than App State!

Mike Hart, 54 yards, TD, 2-point fails. 32-31 Wolverines.

Michigan has the ball on their 46 with about 5 to play and down 5. Go to ESPN.com. You can "watch" the game on GameTrack.

I'd rather be in the pink, than yellow.

55-45? Defense optional?

It already is. Got a heck of a wireless cable modem connection down here on "the other side". And yes, it is "down" here.

The answer is clear. General George Crook, US Army, stated that the Sioux were the greatest light Cavalry the world has ever known. If not "Go Sioux", clearly, it's "Go Cavalry."

How nice of them to offer to "refresh" an arena that isn't even 10 years old yet and is still the best hockey arena on earth.

The post by "mksioux" pretty much sums up where I'm at also. I don't agree with an active campaign to "get rid of" those programs; rather, no moniker means no motivation to keep them running. And no motivation to keep and maintain them means they won't survive long. Rather than actively cutting I think it'd be much more fun to watch them wither and die on the vine, along with anti-moniker crowd's political power on campus. Careful what you wish for. You don't know what you've got until it's gone.

Sounds like there's all new meaning to "Hatton-Northwood". It isn't just co-op athletics for a while. Congrats to Hatton for being a good neighbor.

My response to that? "Porter, ... on the wrap-around ..."
