I think the key word in there is ... want. They don't want to do any of this. What they have to do is shore up the viability of a conference and correspondingly their programs and budgets.

"This is a dynamic phase in college athletic conference alignments. We anticipate additional changes in conference membership on a national scale for the foreseeable future." -- USU AD "(TCU FB coach Gary) Patterson strongly suggested Wednesday afternoon that "more dominoes" could soon fall, although it is uncertain if he was referring to anything beyond the MWC's addition of the two WAC schools." -- ESPN story

How has the Name Debacle affected alumni donations?
The Sicatoka replied to BobIwabuchiFan's topic in UND Nickname
Dig deep and you'll see UND's been doing many (unadvertised) things for many, many years. UND wasn't appreciated. And in UND's time of need it was kicked to the curb by Standing Rock. What else to expect from a government that Third World Nations look at and laugh. UND will go on just fine without the baggage of JTA and RHHiT. Success is the best revenge. -
Montana alone is not enough to save the WAC given the bleeding it's done so far.

Central time zone teams in a predominantly eastern time zone conference seldom move back westward. It's a "television" thing I suspect.

But did you get it right?

Jesse Taken Alive and Ron His Horse is Thunder poisoned the political environment at Standing Rock such that the council voted no. They won there. So, in response, some of you will stop donating to UND. Do you really want to give those two a second win? Folks, the best victory will be for UND to continue to succeed without the Sioux moniker. Then JTA and RHHiT really lose. -
Well, for a while, yes, according to this: http://www.venuworks.com/about_news_detail.cfm?id=28

Ah-ha. Finally, someone has said it. No one wants to be seen "just like" Mr. E. He was tarred and feathered because he supported the name and built a rink in tribute to it. And nobody likes their name drug through the mud. Now, if someone had the chance to be seen riding in on a (virtual) white horse with a great donation in UND's greatest time of need, namely, post-moniker, that person would forever be remembered as a great savior from strife. Who wouldn't want that perception tied to them? (And they wouldn't get tarred like Mr. E did by the Leigh Jeanottes of the world because the moniker is gone.)

Clearly not. Eskimos are indiginous peoples --> Right back on the "Myles Brand" list.

And a chaser! And a bonus, because it's the month we're all looking forward to ...

I'm pretty sure I don't know what I'm talking about here

Kenny, Michael, and their "Brothers" had this figured out long, long ago ... "Sioux", she's gone. What we believe we created it "never made her think twice". http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/doobie+brothers/what+a+fool+believes_20042480.html -

First, his name is Robert O. Kelley. Next, Tom Clifford actually stated that if he couldn't get the tribal councils to support the name even he'd have to change it. Folks, the name was dead the minute the settlement agreement called for *both* Sioux tribes in ND having to approve it. The chance of Standing Rock approving it has never been good. -
He would do what administrators in his position always do: Follow the Benjamins.

The NCAA selects the facility that its post-season games are played in. To not allow REA due to Indian related imagery but not hold that standard regarding United Center would open the NCAA to legitimate question. And I'm just talking buildings here, not teams.
