  1. Why does "Dynamo Riga" come to mind? Oh, this is why ... http://www.nytimes.com/1990/12/11/sports/n...n-colleges.html
  2. Keep reading. The rep from Brown is from the Ivy League, not the ECAC; Niagara is from the MAAC, not Atlantic Hockey; UAF is from the Great Northwest, not the CCHA. The schools are noted by their primary NCAA conference affiliation, not their hockey conference.
  3. I'm thinking the last thing those fellahs need is another beer.
  4. That all came about because Missouri was actively courting (dare I say whoring itself out flagrantly to) the Big Ten. The media and message boards were merely abuzz with good ol' Mizzou's flirting. Now contrast that with where the Montana president says he has no interest and egriz folks are saying that FBS shouldn't be considered. I'd say those two situations are markedly different.
  5. Let's get wild with speculation ... Scenario 1: Texas A&M and Baylor go to the SEC. Texa$, OU, OSU, and TTU go to the Pac-10 with Colorado. That only makes 15, so ... Utah to Pac-10. Boise to MWC to replace Utah. Scenario 2: Kansas, KSU, ISU, Missouri, Baylor scoop up the FB playing part of the Big East. That leaves nothing for MWC to pick up.
  6. http://www.omaha.com/article/20100611/SPORTS/306119924/-1
  7. If the Big Ten gets Notre Dame and Rutgers I'm not sure they'd go any more. There's not enough fiscal return (unless it's Texas).
  8. Yeah, but the spouse (Big XII) caught them cheating and they've already started the divorce.
  9. Saw the Buffs headin' for the west coast; See Nebraska headin' east, And now some people think 'Twelve South is just Pac-10 EAST! When the Twelve come tumbling down When the Twelve come crumblin' tumblin' When the Twelve come crumblin', tumblin' do-o-o-wn ...
  10. Wayne Nelson looks at the situation. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/arti...1/group/Sports/
  11. A major college FB playoff has been estimated to be worth between $600 and 800 million annually. Imagine having to only split that 64 ways. That makes the MBB tournament seem pretty pale in comparison. This is not about BB. This is about football and money. Proof? Kansas is being left in the cold.
  12. Uh, I had the transcript first. :glare:
  13. No, I'm pretty sure he, Tom, is a Dick.
  14. Great. But depending on who the Big Sky potentially loses, will it be a decent conference that UND would want to be associated with?
  15. TMZ.com (yes, the folks that first reported the death of Michael Jackson) is reporting further evidence of the death of the Big XII. Oklahoma State to Pac-10: http://www.tmz.com/2010/06/10/oklahoma-sta...ootball-big-12/
  16. Colorado has bolted for the Pac-10. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5271438 There's no reason at all for Nebraska to hang around the Big XII now. Watch the dominos fall.
  17. You're assuming the coming super-conferences stay in the NCAA and don't just go and form their own govering body.
  18. First shoe has dropped. COLORADO TO PAC-10 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5271438
  19. The issues between UT and NU have been around for a long time. They're finally coming to a head.
  20. That says to me to expect four 16-team superconferences to come out of this where each division champion goes to a "BCS tournament". Welcome to the "Year One" bracket: Pac-10 West champ plays Big Ten East champ Big Ten West champ plays SEC East champ SEC West champ plays ACC East champ ACC West champ plays Pac-10 East champ
  21. The secret Big XII meeting transcript ... http://www.bringonthecats.com/2010/6/7/150...e-big-12-twelve
  22. You know how all politicians work: If they can get what they want by doing nothing, they'll do nothing. They're letting the clock run out but can still say, "I didn't do anything against it."
  23. They've always thought they are the center of everything in Lincoln.
  24. ESPN top of the hour radio news (I'm streaming 1500 ESPN out of MSP) just reported that their sources have learned that the Nebraska regents have voted to join the Big Ten. Expect the announcement and news conference Friday. (Given ESPN inside sources history, for example "Brett Favre" stories, take it for what it's worth.) Honestly, that makes sense from a Big Ten POV: Getting Nebraska folds the Big XII; it effectively kills any midwest television competition for their Big Ten Network.
  25. When he was honored at a home game not that long ago that's what they said. I wonder when that changed.
