  1. Maybe renovating the defunct logos out of and off of the facility? That'd be long-range and a capital cost.
  2. They're 6-2-1 (7-2 if you count the shoot-out win as a win) since starting to wear these at home ... and they're smiling. I'm guessing they'd like to wear those and be home if they earn that right (rather than be subject to the NCAA moniker policy and be on the road).
  3. I wonder what folks will say and do when the UND womens hockey team earns a home first-round NCAA playoff series but is denied it by the NCAA because of the NCAA moniker policy and this petition putting UND back under sanction of it.
  4. http://www.valleynew...have-signatures Seems we may be live witnesses to what UND will do. I'm guessing this will be a more thorough than usual "thorough process".
  5. Is it true that you don't buy green bananas?
  6. You mean the Julie Evans that won't ever be on Caleb Warner's Christmas card list?
  7. That's my point. You have 16 year old kids playing against 20 years olds (some with 9 games in the NHL) and the 16 year old is considered a professional because of the 20 year old's experience?
  8. One simple change I'd like to see: If a kid has played in the CHL (meaning the WHL, OHL, or QMJHL) and has not yet reached their 19th birthday they are still eligible for NCAA hockey without any sanction. I pick that because if they aren't 19 yet they'd still be in high school if they hadn't gone off to play junior hockey. Currently the NCAA views kids playing in the CHL as "getting benefits" or "being a professional" and thus they face sanction if they want to play in the NCAA. I wonder how many CHL players would like to leave the CHL for college after having gotten a taste of it for a year or two at 16 or 17 but can't. Also, that change would also give pause to CHL teams looking to pluck guys from NCAA rosters.
  9. I'm not seeing the rest of the conference agree to a non-US tournament site.
  10. Our resident college hockey reporter, BE Schlossman of the GF Herald, has a nice article about the possible changes to recruiting in college hockey. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/228555/
  11. The team will wear the pre-1/1/2012 jerseys until the new, post-1/1/2012 jerseys are available (late February). As far as the "band jersey" I'll cut them slack if they really were that rushed.
  12. Why should you? Your team will be in the NCHC.
  13. We're into February and UND's mens hockey team is supposed to be sporting their post-January 1, 2012 jerseys soon as the prior statements all said "end of February". There must be tight security around this because we haven't seen a leaked image of the design yet. I'm surprised.
  14. If looking for something centered in their new footprint, the post-2013 WCHA should look at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
  15. I'd worry about that until I see Alabama, Mississippi, LSU, FSU, Iowa, and Maryland in the top 10 also.
  16. Seems DU and CC are headed for OT, OK?
  17. In Chicago, it's not uncommon for the residents of cemetaries to sign petitions. I'm not saying that'll happen here, but they do spotcheck addresses and citizenship in ND. If they find particular petition undersignees are having "problems" turning in valid signatures in the spotcheck they review every signature they've turned in. For the legal folks, if an invalid signature shows up on a petition in ND (be it from a dead person or from a non-North Dakotan) is {a} just that signature invalid, or {b} is the entire sheet that signature is on invalid, or {c} is every signature turned in by that undersignee invalid? I know some states do {b} or {c} but I think in ND it's option {a}, meaning just that signature.
  18. Mentioning petitions, not only do you have to get the signatures but they must be filed, reviewed, and approved. There are four petition actions going on around the state right now, two relating to UND's moniker. The Secretary of State of ND, Al Jaeger, recently put out this "friendly reminder' to all four groups. Al Jaeger says he's heard reports of petitions being left unattended for people to sign. Jaeger says that's against the law, and signatures on those petitions may not be counted. Jaeger says sometimes petitions are downloaded and circulated by people who may not be aware of the rules. The secretary of state says a petition carrier has to personally witness each signature for the name to be valid. http://kfgo.com/regi...ws.php?ID=17966 Not sayin'; just sayin'.
  19. Just these ... http://www.collegehockeynews.com/schedules/scoreboard.php
  20. If all you think of when you hear "University of North Dakota" or "UND" is "Fighting SIoux", you don't know the University of North Dakota.
  21. So sitting down with UND officials, writing to the Governor, and even sitting down and explaining the problem with an NCAA power-grab with the US Ag Secretary (Ed Schafer) doesn't count, eh? Dang. You must've done lots more.
  22. And end tied at 1.
  23. You missed it: 1. The Augusta / K of C comparisons were to point out private clubs can make discriminatory membership rules. 2. You never answered my hypothetical situation that would meet your "member has rules changed around them" scenario. 3. You may view the NCAA policy as a "hate crime", but until you're on the Federal bench your opinion doesn't mean squat. Sorry. PS - For this single case I wish you were on the Federal bench hearing it. For just this case mind you. But my wishing that doesn't mean squat either.
  24. Disagree. BTN in HD is, ... well, HD. The other two are weak in comparison.
  25. Everyone on the ice throwing down in Kohl Center. Punches in Magness. How can UND be in two places that far apart that quickly?
