Happy to see the resiliency at the end of the third. Totally selfish play by Liver there and he should know better than that. That’s a freshman level lack of judgement and shows complete lack of awareness. That top line for Duluth is amazing and fun to watch but those minutes and expended effort doesn’t seem sustainable. Hopefully they’ll run out of gas tomorrow night and it’ll be a long season playing like that.

Yeah, was down in Fargo on Tuesday and was shocked to see prices 20-25 cents/gal cheaper down there. Such BS that it's that much more in GF.

Last night Western had their chances in the first, with quite a bit of PP time, but they couldn't convert. If they had gotten one when they had chances I wonder how different the game would have been. Sucked to see Perron get one, but that was also a fantastic shot, credit to him. Last year that would have hit the post or gone wide and rimmed out of the zone. The allowed goal at the end was perplexing, as it obviously hit a UM guy. The ref announced that since it occurred in the neutral zone the goal stood. Perhaps there's some limit to the "illegal touch" challenge, where it needs to occur in the O or D zone. If so that'd be dumb and anything like that should be reviewable if it directly involves a goal.

Happy to see that the Big Ten Network is covering tonight's WMU vs UMi game too.

Lot of people hating on him for Saturday night, but for all we know he could have been challenged by Jax to go out and play aggressive and physical in an attempt to set a tone with MN that nothing would come easy. We just don't know. Yes, it was overboard and costly be we don't know if he went rogue or was guided there. Seems like a pretty good young man otherwise, so how about we all just take a deep breath and not get too judgy after one bad game, and give Jax a little latitude to work through things. If it was Jax who encouraged him to be super aggressive one could see why he then maybe wouldn't sit him to send a message, and then one could question Jax for not reigning it back in right away, but the fact of the matter is we don't know all of the circumstances and should maybe just sit back for a while, give some benefit of the doubt and wait for the season to evolve for a bit before pulling out the pitchforks.

Haha, great story. What a great line change decision by Hak, and it got referenced around 1:55:50 of the BlackHeart game video below. Hard to imagine your move didn't play some role. Well done.

You're welcome. I was going to make a similar joke myself but purposely left it hanging out there for someone else to take advantage of. There are many other directions I could still go on the subject but I don't want to get too politically incorrect on here

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Indeed, what a nice piece. Well done Schloss! So many good comments in there but I really liked this one: "In the end, it was a clear delineation," Jackson said. "Guys that were character guys that loved our program, that wanted to stay, stayed." Kind of tells you a little bit about where things were last year. Clean slate this season and let's hope that they have that tight bond that's needed to all pull in the same direction! And then I chuckled at the part at the end when Jax and Dillon passed each other on the highway going in opposite directions and gave each other a fist pump out the window. Love to see the energy and passion, and hope the team can get off to a good start and build some positive momentum. Can't wait until Sat night! -
Odd, when I check the NHL Network schedule on the Midco app I'm just seeing NHL games listed during those time windows. <shrug>

Malachi? Does he play physical with big checks? Who else remembers the "Malachi Crunch" from Happy Days? Poor Pinky Tuscudero, haha.

Such accurate statements. This spring, and even a few weeks ago, it was so bad relative to what one would expect and compared to where it has been in the past. Irrigation is definitely needed but they need to do something to get rid of the poa annua grass that's mixed in out there and go with a more climate favorable setup.
-
At least they can't dick up the schedule and refer to us as NDSU when we're both on there back to back weeks
-
Oh a million times yes to that. NBC may not have been perfect for the US Open, but those Fox broadcasts were next-level bad.

I was out to pick up some take-out Happy Joes on Sat evening and noticed a sign on the door that said that inside dining was stopping at 3pm due to lack of staff. Tough times for so many places and I hope the locally owned places that have been around so long can pull through. As a consumer it's tough though, as supporting these places is tougher and tougher with increasing costs elsewhere that chews into the entertainment disposable income.

They also maybe didn't suggest anything to him but rather if he asked they may have been honest and said nothing is guaranteed in terms of top 6 or PP time, and perhaps in reconsidering things, he realized it might be better to be a top dog at Tech instead of potentially getting a bit buried at UND.
-
He was just being silly. There was no ill intent and I'm confident it would have been taken in a light-hearted and un-insulting way.
-
Darn, it looks like they just came up a little bit short.

The tendies too. Each of the past several years it sure felt like the incoming transfers had been promised the net to mostly be theirs, perhaps barring a huge difference in performance. i readily admit that TJ caught fire down the stretch and served the team quite well during that time. However, earlier in the season Hobie’s save percentage was appreciably better and to my (admittedly untrained) eye, he looked better playing the position. Can anyone say they were comfortable watching TJ flopping all over the place, sliding way out of position all the time? I think part of his statistical improvement during the year was the rest of the team adapting to his floppy style and helping to bail him out a bunch. Never have I seen so many pucks pulled off the goal line by D and Fs. I would have felt better going with TJ down the stretch if they had platooned more 50/50 early in the season and he truly set himself apart. That being said, yes, maybe there was something showing in practice too, but I still think as a grad transfer he was promised the net unless he completely blew it or Hobie turned into an absolute dominator.
-
Indeed. Was concerned that he still needed to fill out a bit more and could have used one more season at UND to do that and work on reliability, but seemingly he was able to do that over last summer and has had one heck of a rookie year. Not hard to imagine the UND season going a fair bit better had he been around, but perhaps it ends up a win-win in the long run. He found success and the team has gotten a reset in staff. Success there is to be determined but there have been some promising signs so far.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
SIOUXpucks replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I had heard speculation that he might indeed just call it quits. Not saying that's the mostly likely outcome but it sounded like something that was definitely being considered. -
Feel bad for the Hobie, as I think he was really given a raw deal this past season and should have had a more fair chance to compete. Wonder also what this ends up meaning for Heil. Is he going to be interested in coming in only a year behind this guy?

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

If that happens would Herter step in as HC at Western, short circuiting any thought of him coming here as Associate, if that’s even something of a possibility anyway? -

If that's true (Herter was top choice but passed on because of wanting to decide quickly), then that'd be an awfully awkward dynamic between him and Dane to start things off if he came in as Associate. Seems like he'd be a great Associate, but geez, the last thing we need are coaches that again can't get along and work together.
