Speez Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Kevin scores his 1st. pro goal for the Portland Pirates against the St. John Flames. His goal came in the 2nd. period on a penalty shot after being pulled down from behind on a breakaway. He also assitted on the first goal & got in a scrum behind the play with Chuck Kobesew(formerly BC) where they both got roughing penalties. Probably was some pretty good jawing going on during that. Kevin started slow on Friday getting only 3-4 shifts per period, but worked himself into a regular shift by todays game. He's hoping they keep him around for the play-offs, but not sure of the AHL rules on it.
~SiouxHockeyLover~ Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Yee-haw!! That is soooo cool!! I hope he gets better the more he plays and maybe he'll go to the NHL and play for a big time team!!
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 The only thing that can keep Spiewak out of the NHL is his size. Not saying he won't (I think he's like a foot taller than Brian Gionta, so it can happen) play in the NHL, but size does matter in the NHL. Best of luck to him, and I hope one day he does make it to the bigs.
sprig Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Thanks for the recap, Speez. And good luck to Kevin. Nothing like getting back into it with former BC'ers.
11~ZachAttack~11 Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 WHOOOOOHOOOO GO KEVIN!!!! Good luck in the later years kev.
UND95 Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 That is awesome. I am really going to miss that guy next year. Best of luck to Kevin in his future. Great to hear he is making an impact right out of the gate.
flatspin7 Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Just another note--- Spie also had an assist in that game and was a +2. Great job, best of luck
dagies Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 He got pulled down on a break-away. There's a surprise (for some unsuspecting defenseman). Way to go Spie!
tjk427 Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Congrats to Kevin! I'm sure he'll do well if he gets to stay with the team. I look forward to watching his pro career advance. He deserves all the accolades he gets...Good luck Kevin!
flatspin7 Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Jim--- This may be a wild guess--- but how happy are you to see Spie in that Jersey!!
