Blackheart
....National championships are what a program's legacy is built on. I think these guys understand, accept and embrace these expectations or else they would never have come to school here. Even if they fall short of their ultimate goal, we will all be proud of them for delaying the instant gratification of a signing bonus to take one last shot at winning Title #8. Yeah, we could be putting up NCAA Participation banners like the Mankato Purple Cows!
PCM
ah, the after make-over thing always took place during a tv time-out and the person doing them didn't like doing them. He was just paid to do it. Yeah, you're right. But the make-overs are so awesome that they deserve to have a full intermission devoted to them.
siouxnami
I think that before any building is truly home that 1st championship banner needs to be hung. Lets take care of that this season.

Diggler
I volunteered you for an Oshullet. I would be truly honored. Hopefully my hair will be in proper form by that time and I'll be able to pull it off. Nice to see you've finally given in and called it the Oshullet too. PCM
I would be truly honored. If only The Sicatoka would be as receptive to my fashion advice, the world would be a more beautiful place. Hopefully my hair will be in proper form by that time and I'll be able to pull it off. That's what the off-season is for. Nice to see you've finally given in and called it the Oshullet too. Heck, I'd call it the Digullet if it resulted in some quality intermission entertainment.
Big A HG
1.) I'm not talking about other places. I'm talking about the new REA. 2.) Big deal. I've been to nearly every Sioux men's game there since the place opened and every game during the World Juniors. That gives me a pretty good idea of how loud the place is capable of getting -- with or without Sioux fans and with or without students present. I also attended a fair number of games in the old facility. So I have that for comparison. 3.) I'm aware that there are other venues with better atmosphere. That's not the issue. 4.) I'm not saying that the atmoshphere at the Ralph couldn't be better. It most certainly could. Hearing the noise level generated by Canadian fans who attended the World Juniors gave me a good idea of what the atmosphere could be like. I wish it was like that for every game. But realistically, that will probably never be the case. And the new Ralph will probably never have the same atmosphere as the old Ralph. But that's not to say it's anywhere near as bad as you claim because I've been to many games there where the place was positively nuts. 5.) Sorry, but your opinion does not equal "the facts." 6.) That's not the point. The point is that what's happening in a game -- to a large degree -- dictates crowd reaction. Fans get fired up by how their team's playing. When the fans are into the game, the home team feeds off their reaction and the visiting team can become demoralized. Having the home crowd actively involved and behind their team definitely helps. But it's up to the players on the ice to give fans a reason to be enthusiastic, excited and involved. 1.) In order to judge the REA (whether in a good way or bad), you have to compare it to other places. Having a blind eye about other places gives a reason to have a blind eye for the downsides of REA. 2.) I've been to more than I've mentioned, but there's no need. Every stadium/arena has a had an event or two in it's history where fans did it right. It's a matter of consistency. If the fans can't be consistently loud, it doesn't matter how potentially loud they could be. Being "capable" of being loud doesn't mean ANYTHING. 3.) Again, here's the blind eye again...Shouldn't one of the greatest NCAA hockey teams of history, with no other major sport, have one of the best fan bases around? Yeah, there are a ton of Sioux fans, that's awesome. But to have so many great fans, but have 90% be quiet, that's disappointing. 4.) Of course there are going to be "times" when the place is nuts, it's the consistency again. The "times" are few and far between. If you go to some of the best home crowds, it don't matter who or when the team is playing, the place is guaranteed to be crazy. 5.) I'll give you this comment, but don't assume your opinions are better than mine, because they are not. 6.) Fans shouldn't need a reason to get fired up other than the team is on the ice. That should be when the crowd gets fired up. It shouldn't take a goal or something great to happen to make it loud. It should be loud, then get crazy when something happens. The best fans at top places are loud during all parts, always chanting, always doing something to keep the energy level up.
Sioux-cia
Please!!!!!!!! Why does the 'REA sucks' have to infiltrate just about every thread?!? Start a REA Atmosphere Sucks thread and those those that want to read about it and discuss it ad nauseum can do so to their hearts desire. Has anyone heard of any other hockey teammates who have made this type of pact? Publicly? The 1996--1998 Michigan Wolverines had eight I think that made this kind of pact. That included Brenden Morrison the Hobey Baker winner I believe. They were supposed to win the Nationals that year but they were beat by Boston U who were themselves beaten. St. Louis is already chomping at the bit for Osh and possibly Duncs. The same goes for Chorney and Finely with their respective NHL teams. THETRIOUXPER
This is our last shot for this group. Exactly, we have already seen the last of the D.O.T. era, after this season the D and the O part of that will probably be gone. (Along with a couple other D's, as in defensemen, Chorney and Finley.) The Whistler
Our history of putting top players into the NHL is helping us recruit top players for the future. So it sucks to lose the great ones, but it helps us get more so it's not all bad.
the"source"
Hold on to yourself TRIOUXP, don't get your game worn whites in a bundle. All of you think about this, Duncs is going to play 2 more years. Does anyone have a link that he is leaving? Who is your source, if you can't name your source it can not be true. Duncs will stay 4 years win number 8 and number 9!! Hell he may even take over for Hak after his contract is up June 1st. I think we all need to get on the bus and back Hak up. Sioux Nation we need to be vocal on this one. That means all of us will have to pick up a phone and make the call. I Think a call to the top man out at UND is the way to go, what do yall think? Just a thought! PCM
1.) In order to judge the REA (whether in a good way or bad), you have to compare it to other places. Having a blind eye about other places gives a reason to have a blind eye for the downsides of REA. Did you notice that I said the atmosphere could be better and that we should work on ways to improve it? How does that equate to "a blind eye"? 2.) I've been to more than I've mentioned, but there's no need. Every stadium/arena has a had an event or two in it's history where fans did it right. It's a matter of consistency. If the fans can't be consistently loud, it doesn't matter how potentially loud they could be. Being "capable" of being loud doesn't mean ANYTHING. I never said it did. You know, I'd take your arguments more seriously if you didn't insist on engaging in gross exaaggerations and hyperbole. What you're saying simply isn't true. 4.) Of course there are going to be "times" when the place is nuts, it's the consistency again. The "times" are few and far between. If you go to some of the best home crowds, it don't matter who or when the team is playing, the place is guaranteed to be crazy. So you're saying that there has never, ever been a dead crowd at the Kohl Center? Because I know for a fact that as much as everyone raves about the crowds at the old Ralph, it wasn't immune to to the occasional dead crowd. 5.) I'll give you this comment, but don't assume your opinions are better than mine, because they are not. Everybody has opinions, but not all opinions are equally valid. 6.) Fans shouldn't need a reason to get fired up other than the team is on the ice. As much as I'd like to believe that, 40+ years of watching sports tells me it's not that case.
