FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Zurich, Switzerland, January 31, 2007):

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the International Standards Organization (ISO) today announce two new conversion factors between the fundamental units of measure.

Conversion factors are most common in engineering, for example 746 watts equates to 1 horsepower, but have other practical applications such as 2.2 pounds approximates one kilogram.

The new units today formally recognized by IIHF and ISO are "The Frazee" and "The Bina" and are defined as:

One (1) Frazee converts 170 feet (about 52 meters) into 1 goal or score

One (1) Bina converts 1 goal from 170 feet (about 52 meters)

Use of these conversions in IIHF and ISO communications is appropriate from this date forward.

So do these replace The Kollar and The Leopold? :silly::D

I must've not copied and pasted that full release. Here's the full.

Please also note:

IIHF and ISO declare the units of "The Leopold" and "The Kollar" obsolete or arcane. These should be avoided in all future communications.

Was reading the comments about the Bina goal on the FSN post and saw this particular comment.....

oh please, you must be joking, numbers dont lie, the gophers are on top. All of the hockey talent in the US lies within the WCHA, and the gophers run that show. What? 5 players on the world junior team?? Wow, most teams are lucky if they have one player to make it. Dont even make me list how many national titles they've won, you're just bitter because your club sucks.
i wrote the guy back, considering a few of the assanine things that were said.....here is what i wrote back....

A REAL Numbers Game

so im just gonna throw this out there....keep score with me now.....

- UM sent 5 players to the WJC. UND sent 3. UM-1/UND-0

-Our A. Capt, and Canada's A. Capt (Jon Toews) scored 3 shootout goals in a row against your (sieve) Frazee. UM-1/UND-1

-One of our D-Men Captained all your little guys on the U.S. team (Taylor Chorney). UM-1/UND-2

-UM has won 5 national titles, UND has won 7. UM-1/UND-3

-UM had their clubs longest winning streak in history. UM-2/UND-3

-UM has more NHL draftees on their team. UM-3/UND-3

-UND has been to the Final Four the last 2 years in a row. UM-3/UND-4

-UND DIDNT lose to Holy Cross. UM-3/UND-5

*Notice the score? UND-5, UM-3.....sound familiar? :D

In the end, although UM may have a slightly more prominent dyansty, and may consistently, over the last few years, esp this year, do very well, UND wins out the #s game. I will admit every day that UM is a VERY good team, that is not a lie. UND is VERY good as well. This season they havent been playing as well. But you ahve to look at what has happened lately....UM is 1-7 in their last 8. UND is 8-1-1 in their last 10.

Now, its always possible that UM is in a slump, and will bounce back and win everything, and that UND is just getting lucky and will now lose the rest of the games. It's also jsut as possible that UM will do equally as bad the 2nd half of the season as UND did the first half, and conversely UND will do as well in the 2nd half as UM did in the first. Both have about as equal a schedule comin up. And after UM won the WHCA points title and UND won the WCHA game title last year, it's gonna be a tough battle. But since when hasnt it been between these 2?

All in all, both are very good teams who's fortunes have changed drastically in their various directions as of late. Now, before you start bashing UND, jsut stop and think about the REAL numbers game.

there was alot more i could have said, but he prolly wouldnt know any better, being a Gopher fan and all :silly:

"Top 10 Frazee Excuses"

1. Didn't think Bina could shoot that far.

2. Was screened by Lamoureux.

3. Thought the defenseman waived me off.

4. Didn't have time to react.

5. My skate was untied.

6. Hey, I'm just the backup goalie.

7. Campion was supposed to call a penalty.

8. Someone put vodka in my water bottle.

9. Not cool to use whole body to block shot.

10. No one can bend it like Bina.

#2 is my favorite.
