Diggler Posted December 31, 2006 Share Posted December 31, 2006 Announcers say we are #2 seed. We play Czech republic on Tuesday Jan 2nd at 12:30 central time I believe they are wrong. It was discussed before this game that the US need to win in regulation to be the #2 seed. A Regulation win is worth 3 points. A OT/Shootout win is worth 2 points and an OT lose is worth 1 point. The Swedes had two regulation wins and a loss for a total of 6 points before today's game. They lost in OT and therefore got one point. They now have 7 points. The USA had one regulation win, one OT loss and one loss for a total of 4 points. They got 2 points today for an OT win. They now have 6 points. That link my be changed and corrected by the time you click it. If you look at the schedule/results page, they also have it listed as a 3-2 win, not indicated (OT). Canada's opponent in Wednesday's semifinal (TSN, 1 p.m. ET) will be the winner of the quarter-final between Finland and the U.S. on Tuesday. Russia also went 4-0 to top Pool B and awaits the quarter-final winner between Sweden and the Czech Republic. The Americans needed their 3-2 overtime over Sweden on Sunday, lest they drop into the relegation round.
