Smoggy Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Sioux looking really good this first period. Toews has also missed a couple golden opportunities. Good thing I didn't go. Quote

dagies Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Good things happen when you work hard and crash the net. Genoway's goal really happened because Duncan got the puck centered, and Toews was crashing. Toews was denied but Genoway followed that lead and on his second try dropped and flopped backhander over Zaba. Before they were done with the replays Watkins scored. Only saw one poor replay but appeared Porter was open for a shot in the slot that was stopped but Watkins managed to get a rip on a loose rebound from a poor angle. Quote
Siouxdonyms Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Great 1st period for the Sioux. Best of the year by far! Quote

dagies Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Sioux outshooting CC 17-6 in the first period. I thought the Sioux looked like they were playing more physically than what I saw in watching only the 3rd period last night. Still won't confuse this team for the hard hitting teams of a couple of years ago, but at least some bodies getting thrown around. Still confused, however, that it appeared a couple of Sioux players pulled off of finishing a check when they could have destroyed a CC player in open ice just after they delivered the puck. Smaby would have seen an extra $20k in his contract if he saw those opportunities, and a couple of Sioux players, Finley being one of them, apparently don't. After those 2 goals, the last 2 Sioux lines absolutely dominated in the offensive zone. CC was running around, couldn't clear, and the Sioux generated chance after chance. Zajac nearly had his 2nd goal. Hopefully they can keep this up. Quote
brianvf Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Was that Forney that stripped the puck from Zaba on the first goal. It was indeed. Great job by him to strip it away and cause the turnover. Quote
