PCM Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 (edited) Here are my observations from tonight's intra-squad scrimmage. If I got something wrong or if anyone else who was there wants to make corrections and add comments, please feel free. Did not dress: Zach Jones, Matt Watkins, Michael Forney Green Team Lines Kozek, Zajac, Porter Fabian, Miller, Kaip Defensive Pairs Chorney, Lee Foyt, Radke Goalie Lamoureux White Team Lines Duncan, Toews, Oshie VandeVelde, Martens, Bishop Defensive Pairs Finley, Genoway Bina, Hamilton Goalies Grieco, Walski Lamoureux played the entire 30 minutes for Team Green. Grieco played for Team White until he got scored on and was then replaced by Walski. The teams started out 5-on-5, played 3-on-3 for a few minutes, 4-on-4 for a few more minutes and ended 5-on-5. White scored first a few minutes in to take a 1-0 lead. Toews made a strong move to the net and got a good shot off. Lamoureux stopped it, but the rebound went straight up the slot and Hamilton fired it in. Green tied it with a Fabian goal. Miller got a nice pass from the Sioux zone and broke in 2-on-1 with Fabian. He held the puck and then slid a pass across to Fabian who had nothing but open net. Toews broke in on Lamoureux to put White up 2-1. Kozek scored on a breakaway to make it 2-2. Oshie scored the game-winner on a play I can Edited October 3, 2006 by PCM Quote

Goon Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 i was wondering about him too...come to think, did he even dress at all last year?? Any Idea what is the ailments that kept these players out of the scrimage? PCM did you make it by the training room tonight? Quote
brianvf Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Defensive Pairs Bina, Hamilton I thought Miller looked very good. Bishop looked very fast and reminded me of Kevin Spiewak. Towes had some good opportunities, but Lamoureux made some great stops on him. Genoway made a few mistakes, but made some nice passes and seems to have a good knack for knowing when to join the rush. Hamilton was playing on defense? Is that where he might be used next year, or just needing to fill a spot? I thought that Miller looked good against Manitoba. He looks like he came ready to play this year. Great to hear about both Bishop and Genoway. Thanks for the recap, PCM. Quote

Sioux-cia Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 All three were signing autographs after the scrimmage. Well not Matt. I heard he wasn't in town but his little brother Zach was there. Zach told me that Matt and his wife had a baby boy this past summer. Quote

siouxnami Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 not sure on watkins and forney but MATT jones has a case of the iwentpro-itus heard its spreading around grand forks Oh no, its spreading. If he gets too close to Oshie or Toews, somebody put him down. Quote
crosby_87 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Injury update: Forney injured his shoulder last week the day his article was written. It is only minor and he will suit up this weekend I think. And I believe Zach Jones did something with his groin, and Matt Watkins I'm not sure, but he did get hit into the boards from behind pretty hard yesterday and got up slow. Quote
dagies Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I'm excited to hear Miller is looking good. Quote
PCM Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 i was wondering about him too...come to think, did he even dress at all last year?? Oops. Fixed it. Quote
PCM Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 PCM did you make it by the training room tonight? I never get anywhere near the training room. Ever since HIPAA, getting information about injuries is worse than pulling teeth. Quote
Diggler Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I never get anywhere near the training room. Ever since HIPAA, getting information about injuries is worse than pulling teeth. What if the injury is broken teeth? Then are they equal? Quote
Sioux-cia Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 What if the injury is broken teeth? Then are they equal? DUH!! Unless they're pulled, broken teeth are injuries which are worse!!! Quote
PCM Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Another "Oops!" fixed. I left out Toews' goal that put Team White up 2-1. Quote
Goon Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I never get anywhere near the training room. Ever since HIPAA, getting information about injuries is worse than pulling teeth. I forgot about HIPAA. Thats like saying when someone has a concussion they have an upper body injury. Yeah. Quote
siouxnami Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 So who was the best player on the ice? Toews? Quote
PCM Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Hamilton was playing on defense? Is that where he might be used next year, or just needing to fill a spot? I'm guessing that with Jones unavailable, he was probably just filling a spot. Quote
PCM Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 So who was the best player on the ice? Toews? I'd say it was a toss-up between Toews and Oshie. Quote
THETRIOUXPER Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 So who was the best player on the ice? Toews? This was a 30 minute run-time, no contact, intra squad scrimmage, played for the enjoyment of the fans. It's really hard to tell who was "the best" player on the ice. That being said, I thought Miller looked good, speed-wise, and he made a heck of a sweet pass for a goal ( I think it was to Fabian). Hunter Bishop also showed some speed and offensive ability as well. Any way it's always fun to go to the Ralph and watch the boys skate. Quote
siouxforeverbaby Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Another "Oops!" fixed. I left out Toews' goal that put Team White up 2-1. Don't feel bad about the "Oops". In reading the Dakota Student today, they had Zach written down as Matt too. I think he might be used to it as he is the younger brother and that tends to happen. Quote

Diggler Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Or maybe they were relying too much on my sudo-reporting. It would explain how they've managed to sink even lower when I thought they were already at rock bottom. Quote
