YaneA
Jim: Are those the odds of making the Frozen Four or of winning it?
jimdahl
Sorry, odds of winning it all.
747Guy
Perhaps my ignorance is due to the fact I am down here in Rodent Country. What is the source of this information? 747 Guy Long time reader, first time poster and HUGE Sioux Hockey Fan!
jimdahl
Not sure where Nathan gets it from. I know you can place NCAA hockey bets at the Imperial Palace. He gets the odds about this time ever year (I suspect he gets them from someone in Vegas).
U2Bad1
I find it hard to believe that BC's odds of winning it all are so high.

The Sicatoka
U2Bad1: I thought you'd already graduated from "Understanding the Odds 101." Odds are based not only on who they think'll actually win, but what it takes to get the right amount of "action" on both sides so the house doesn't lose no matter who wins. Let's use the football example: The great majority of betters wanted to bet on Miami (vs OSU). If Miami won, the house has to dig deep to pay off. By offering people 11 points to take OSU it made the total number of bets on each side more even. That way the house uses one side's money to pay off the other (after taking their "handle"). Why 11 points? Because at 7 points there was still too much action on the Hurricanes. Make sense? Now to this: This shows that betters are looking to "put down" on Maine, BC, UND, and UNH. How do you balance the books in this case? Make the payoffs on those teams lower so the bets on the rest of the field equal out the payoffs in those cases. Remember: The odds are set (and the points given) to make sure the house doesn't lose on the payout (and not because of who they think'll win). elmduf
Okay, the Rodents are at 5-1 odds. After last years national championship, is this old saying true? "The suns gotta shine on a dogs ass every once in a while"

BigGreyAnt41
First I looked at it I thought "what the hell, MN is higher than us?" Then I realized they are 5:1, we are actually 3.5:1. I'm a fool, i guess.
