dagies
I might be stealing jk's thunder as I think he started a similar thread at the beginning of last year. This thread can serve as a place to post updates on COMMITTED Sioux recruits performance on current teams. As someone else pointed out Chris VandeVelde had 2 goals and 1 assist in a Buc Bowl game for Lincoln right now. He's only played in one game and most of the team has played 2 yet he leads the team in points already! Also with a +3 +/-. To this point only VandeVelde and Marto are committed for next year. Hopefully we'll have a few more exciting names to watch before too long.

Kermit
Chris VandeVelde continues his torrid start for Lincoln. Tonight he had 2 goals, including the gamewinner 18 seconds into overtime, in a 5-4 victory over Sioux City. He was also a +4. Jake Marto had one assist and 3 shots on goal in Omaha's 3-1 victory over Sioux Falls.
Kermit
VandeVelde scores the lone goal for Lincoln in a 3-1 loss to Omaha. He also manages to rack up 14 PIM, including a 10-minute misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct after his goal at 18:32 of the third period. dagies
VandeVelde scores the lone goal for Lincoln in a 3-1 loss to Omaha. He also manages to rack up 14 PIM, including a 10-minute misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct after his goal at 18:32 of the third period. That helps account for his monstrous PIM total so far VandeVelde - 3 games 4-0-4 +5 22 PIMs Marto - 3 games 0-2-2 0 17 PIMs

dagies
Thanks for the link, Kermit. Nice article. VandeVelde has started out very nicely with 4 goals so far. It will be interesting to watch how his season progresses.

#1Hakfan
That is probably a future gopher Defensemen. They learn at a young age how to read the numbers on the backs of Sioux jerseys.

redwing77
I can't read the front of that jersey. The closest I could figure out would be Try City Storm or the Sioux Falls Stampede. If it is Sioux Falls, then the player who's holding Vandie is Nate Prosser, a defenseman who is heading to CC next year. If it is Tri City, then it is Jordan Willert holding him. But, it could be another team or it could be a picture from last season, in which case, it might not be either of those two listed above. spfreak
I am almost completely certain that it would be Prosser then because it is a Stampede jersey.
amn5hol
I am almost completely certain that it would be Prosser then because it is a Stampede jersey. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The player is Prosser. The picture was taken at last Friday's (Oct. 7) game in Lincoln against Sioux Falls. FYI, if you look in the in the top-left corner of the picture, you can see my 2-year old son peeking his head over the boards.

dagies
Moving over from the Prospects thread, the Sioux have landed Evan Trupp of the Penticton Vees (BCHL) and Darcy Zajac of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. According to Heisenberg's site it looks like Zajac will come in 2006 and Trupp in 2007. Right now Zajac is 5th in the BCHL in scoring with 35games 22-30-52 32pims He's listed as a Right shooting Center on Salmon Arm's roster. Sept. 23, 1986 birthday. 6' 1" 200# Trupp is 6th in the BCHL in scoring with 35games 17-35-52 12pims He's listed as a Left shooting Forward on Penticton's roster. Oct. 22, 1987 birthday. 5' 9" 151# Both of these characters were named to the Interior Conference 1st Team All-Star team. Chay Genoway was also named to the Interior team, but in essence either as a 3rd or 4th team (they don't designate teams after the 2nd). An article on Trupp "Evan draws such a crowd that he creates time and space for everyone else," Ashley said. "He's an improvisator, like a jazz musician. You never know what he's going to do with the puck." Ok, that might be a bit much. "He's got unbelievable peripheral vision because everybody tries to nail him, but at the last second he darts away," Ashley said. "Evan, with his vision, is hard to hit." Trupp, who boasts blazing speed... Ashley added that Trupp should thrive in juniors with only a few parts of his game left to polish. "Evan's probably going to have to learn to score a little further out in the perimeter," Ashley said. "He's got to get off the big shot."
