I was not there to substantiate the report but if it is even partially close to reality I call “foul” on the parents. 1 Quote
Wilbur Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago The NDHSAA needs to have off ice officials for the goal judges. The 3rd goal was absolutely the right call, didn't see the first one. Not sure on the second one as you can't see the puck. The goal judge is an 80 year old guy likely volunteering his time, but in these games is that the guy who should be in that position? All the Central kids behind the net were pointing at it like it was a goal, but high school kids nonetheless. Officials have a tough job. I thank them for their service. 1 Quote

I was watching online and rewound it for both the last 2 and it looked like at least 1 of the 2 was debatably a goal. FN d-man dove in the crease and knocked the net off accidentally and just as it was coming off DL was shooting it in. Pretty hard to see from the center ice cam above the box though. Quote
JakeLove Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago ONLY (and I mean only) league using goal judges is HS hockey. They create more problems than they solve; assuming of course that the on ice officials get to their proper position to make the goal line calls. And with 4 officials on the ice there is no excuse for not getting to position. Quote
Wilbur Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago After 1 period: Central up 3-0. Minot up 4-0. Quote

From the times I’ve been a goal judge I was very surprised at how hard it is. You could easily miss a quick in and out shot. Lots of bodies, movement, etc. I was always hoping that I wouldn’t need to make a call. Quote
Wilbur Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago Central up 7-0 after 2. Minot up 5-1 after 2. 1 Quote
Wilbur Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago Central and Minot punch their tickets, both in run time. Night games I'll say Red River 5-1, and Legacy 5-0. Quote

No surprise. Shanley is solid. But teams from EDC #3E seed and below in my opinion are not real strong relative to years past. #1W and #2W are more likely than not to win their state tournament first round games. Quote

North (which didn't make state) beat all of the top teams from the west. Quote

Lunde always claimed he wanted 2 teams, but he didn’t care about any sport but basketball Quote

Wilbur Posted 11 minutes ago Author Posted 11 minutes ago If Minot wins WDA and plays Shanley first at state that game is a toss up and the West's best chance. Quote
