I get to complain even more!!! I'd still like to be able to get season tickets in the upper deck. I'd rather have lower bowl, but since that isn't gonna happen, I'll take upper bowl cause it's better then nothing. The fact that I can't get them due to UND/REA/whomever (they both seem to want to pass the buck to the other) being unwilling to sell them because then they can't make as much money is, pardon my french, b^llsh^t. The only loss would be in concession sales, so that argument is valid, but as for support of the team, I don't think that matters so much. It's like class at a University really. You can spend $30,000 a year on school (in places) and the professors don't really care if you show up. They get paid anyways and the University gets all those student fees to spend on researching how many times in 30 minutes does a pigeon poop. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's plenty of people that would pay the money and actually show up or at least give the tickets away. I hope you're not holding your breath waiting for that. The WCHA average is 20% of the arena: Try for 20% of the lower and 20% of the lower (rather than 10% of the lower and 30% of the upper like you have.) But beware: If those lower sections aren't completely full every night the donors will come a-callin' for those seats. There is one advantage to the students this year: Some donor may not like the new "50 degrees" lower bowl REA this season and may want to move to the upper. Again, don't hold your breath. I hear guys away from the boards coming down the slot "calling". The (non-PA system) acoustics in there are pretty good. I believe it'd essentially be the same amount of seats in the same spot as the place UND hockey use to play only a few years ago, the old Ralph Engelstad Arena. (Mory00 will probably be right about this year.) If you want to use the "old arena" argument you need to remember that the old arena student section was 2200 seats on one side of the arena, centered around the red line, going from ice level to the top row of the arena. Your best bet would be to try for 20% of the lower, 20% of the upper. PS - Have you guys come up with a better system than a lottery? There's a thread dedicated to ideas in this forum. He is very sympathetic with the students but he posed an interesting tidbit about why we won't get more seats in the lower bowl: money. No, I know that we already know that the Ralph is all about money, but this is different. Hockey is the most expensive sport on campus to fund, not just because of all the equipment and scholarships, but because of funding of all the other sports required by Title IX, the AD can't afford to give away the monetary losses that would occur if they gave us 106 and 108, even if we gave up some upper bowl seats. The only comprimise that would remotely be feasible would be an astronomic rise in student season ticket prices. Let's just say that what Minny pays for student season tickets ($240), of which he described as "in the ball park." Since we'd balk (even though he argues we'd complain but it would happen if we could get the seats) at that, it's just not going to happen. Not saying this is truth. I'm just saying that that newpaper article about us getting more seats was just not going to happen. Maybe there is something Student Government can do to spend at least a portion of the money that would be necessary to get us the seats and lower the prices a little bit (similar to what happened with the Old Ralph) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Total: $2250 (or $562.50 per seat) Find a way to make that up in Roger Thomas' athletic budgets and I'm sure he'll gladly have students in those seats.
