I think it would be a good idea, but the money hungry owners probably wouldn't take off their precious income-producing advertisments to put on something entertaining.

What are you talking about?

On the system in MidCo I'm on it is blank with a simple "MidCo" logo, no ads, other than during games.

That channel is owned by Midcontinent Cable, not anyone else.

It is all still ads on my Midco cable, with music playing in the background.

Channel 23, right?

Yea, mine has ads going with music in the background, too.

Given, most of it is UND/Sioux advertising, so I'm not sure how much money they're making from it, but it's good free advertising, and the NCAA or ESPN probably own rights to most of the legendary games people would like to see.

I wouldn't say "most", because the Sioux have only played a handful of games on ESPN and even though those include a lot of their championships, a lot of their legendary games I believe were not played in front of such huge tv audiences. I would be curious to know if the NCAA does own the broadcast rights to the games.

this might be a stupid question since i know that the ralph network is televised through an agreement with cable stations...does anyone know if and where the network would be available through a dish? i have recently switched to a dish and forgot about the convenience of the ralph network on cable. cable companies bend you over with rates nearly twice that of a dish. it would be sweet if i could order the channel for the dish. any info? thanks.

You can access FSSN with a big dish, at the following coordinates;

http://www.theralph.com/new2/Watch_The_Sio...n/Satellite.htm

It's not available through directtv or dish networks.

Lots of discussion here last year about installing the dish (Pete? in the TC does it and posts here regularly, as do several others that had a big dish installed).

SiouxSports.com Forums - Sioux on Satellite

Perhaps we need to start a FAQ with things like "Sioux on satellite/tv/radio", "places to look for game tickets", etc... We could include links to the old discussions and just point people to the FAQ rather than try to search out the old discussions for them.
