NorthDakotaHockey Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Mariucci Ice / Weekend RecapThis is a reasoned and good read, imho. Quote
CoteauRinkRat Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 odd that the ice cracked like that, in such a big chunk. I thought for sure there was something wrong with the cooling system. Quote
U2Bad1 Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Kinda funny that UM breaks all sorts of records when UND comes to town, but UW is their NUMBER 1 RIVAL BABY Quote

Fedorov Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 I heard that their concrete is white, so they didn't know the ice was thin. Quote

PCM Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 I heard the ice cracked due to the enormous weight of expectations placed on the Gophers by the POI crowd. Quote
airmail Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 I heard that their concrete is white, so they didn't know the ice was thin. All indoor ice is thin. (ideally) Whether the concrete is white, black or red... the ice is still only about 1/4" or so... what the heck are they talking about? Quote
Fedorov Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 Sorry for listening to Woog when the women's game was on. Quote
Goon Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 The latest conspiracey: the ice in Maryuchi... Quote
UMDDogz Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 All indoor ice is thin. (ideally) Whether the concrete is white, black or red... the ice is still only about 1/4" or so... what the heck are they talking about? Right. The thicker it is, the farther away it is from the under-floor cooling pipes. The farther away from the pipes it is, the crappier (softer) the ice surface is. Quote
farce poobah Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Just a freak accident of physics I guess. Yeah, like the Gophers winning Saturday. Quote
